Fiat Petra - Plastic Cover?

Hi All,

I have 2004 Fiat Petra Petrol which to-date has covered around 51000 KMS.

Yesterday I was Driving down from Mangalore to Bangalore at night and it was raining heavily. Suddenly there was a big patch of Water on Road and I didn't notice it & and didn't had time to react. So Car went over water in with big sound of water spalsh and after wards I started hearing the Dragging Sound from Under Body.

I stopped the car and on checking below I realised that the Big Plastic Sheet on the Rear Right Side (near Rear Right Wheel) was cut and was dragging on ground. As a temp Fix I have tied this plastic Sheet to Body so that dragging noise will go away.

Now my Question is:
* What is this Plastic Sheet? and whats the use of it?
* I guess I need to replace it.... What may be the cost?

Your answers are highly appreciated.

Regards
Rai

Do you mean the Plastic wheel well cover? If so, Do not know the cost of them, though they might not be too expensive. However do know that it is an absolute necessity to have them replaced and soon.

Rai,

I am am not wrong, you are talking of the plastic cover just ahead of the right rear wheel. That piece is used to cover the fuel filter assembly and is secured by 2 screws.

But yes, pics would sort this out much better.

Its a plastic Cover which covers the Fuel Filter.

Hello All,

Thanks for quick questions/replies on my Postings. You guys are amazing.

Well, as VIPUL put it rightly, it is the plastic Cover (very hard Plastic) which covers the Fuel Filters and other stuff.
Its not Wheel Cover.
Well, I am not sure if I can focus the camera without lifting the Car. Anywise I will try to post some pictures within next 2 days.

Today morning while going to office, this plastic cover was touching (dragging) on ground and making lots of noise. I couldn't bend it back. Then, I had to take it to a road side mechanic and ask him to cut it and he really strugled to cut this Plastic Sheet (As I said it was very hard plastic) with a haksaw blade.
After Cutting it I can see Blue colored Fuel filter inside...

I would say get it fixed. If you are not able to find the part with an A.S.S Center, try to get if off a totalled car.
