ikon water pump cost?

wanted to know if anyone has any ideas how much it costs and if i can use one of another company with some mods. looks like i might have to get it changed. talking about the coolant pump BTW.

there's a spares thread - not sure if this is listed but anyhow i couldn't find the thread. please merge it if necessary mods

it's leaking and it's a 1.6 petrol. what does that indicate? replacement needed? seizure around the corner?

A leaking pump means the SEAL is gone. I'm not familiar with what the Ikon uses, but it ought to be possible to renew the seal.
I'd expect that the entire pump does not need to be renewed.

The 1.6 Petrol water pump costs Rs.1250.

thanks guys. i guess as anup said i won't have to replace. but just in case, is it possible to do some jugaad with the pump for another car (say a maruti)?

Silver shadow, it is not usually possible to fit another car's pump because the physical geometry is different for each. As far as the pump is concerned, it is pretty much similar for most engines; but the mounting points are invariably different.

Come on man, 1250 plus 250 for fitting is the cost of an average tank of fuel.

I would not take chances with the water pump as it is cheap , if it siezes the engine will overheat and it will blow a headgasket.

yea agreed. thanks guys. hopefully it's just a leak. else i'll replace it with the OEM pump.

Typically, nothing goes wrong with the pump part, specifically with coolant being the medium. It can only be the seal.
