M800 Service

Gave my M800 for service today, 20k service. Following are the items in the Service list, replacements & service charge. Is this ok?

Engine Oil
Gear Box Oil
Coolant
Wiper Fluid
Spark Plug
Wiper Blades
Front Brake Disks
Brake Pads (I thought the brakes were fine)
Wheel Balancing, weights
Front Drive Shafts (replacement suggested due to noise on full turn)
Front Wheel Bearings (reason same as above)
Some sprimgs, bushes etc
Some more items I can't remember whose cost runs in few hundreds each!

And Full washing & service charges for all work

Approximate cost extimation: Rs 9k

you might want to do these (check with your service advisor/mech whether you really need to do these)

- adjust valve clearances
- change front strut bush kit
- change stabilizer bar bushes
- overhaul steering rack
- check and replace steering rack / drive shaft boots

Got back my M800 from service centre. Service centre folks used the standard 20k service checkist; all done except Spark plug replacement - wasn't needed. Additionally Exide Battery was charged - needed since this is a spare car & not run much (22k in 8 yrs but serviced every 6 months mandatorily at Maruti ASC)

Car runs smooth & peppy now. Bill was INR 7300/-. Got it serviced at Smart Cars, Bangalore.

Now have given my Baleno for 20k service.

Cheers, A.R

Yep. I was surprised too on the brake that too for a car which is sparingly used. But ASC folks said its worn & needs replacement.

Service costed INR 7300 because of front right drive shaft & front wheel bearing replacement, and lots of taxes! I owe this to the top notch road conditions. Still didn't expect a replacement so soon. My dad drives this car most & have never seen him overspeeding or driving hard.

Hope I won't need to replace such items for the Baleno.

Hi A.R,

It is quite surprising that the front wheel drive shafts were replaced at such a low mileage when you have mentioned that it is driven sedately by your dad. Was the car involved in a shunt anytime?

I drove a 1996 make M800 for over 75,000 KMS and my car never gave this problem.

Cheers,

gpa
