Re: Skoda Laura: Problems & solutions thread

I have gone ahead and gifted myself a Pre-Worshipped 2012 Laura L&K which has clocked a little less than 50K Kms. Car has been owned by a petrolhead gentleman who babied it all these years. Here are some of the list of mods on it now:

Pete's Stage1 Custom Remap
Green Cotton Filter
Bilstein B6 Suspension
H&R Lowering Springs
Brembo rotors
Brembo pads
OZ Italia150 Anniversary Edition 17" Alloys
245/45 Continental SportContact 3 Tyres
12 Speaker Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 Multimedia/GPS unit
UK Spec VRS Grille

Didn't know L&K came in this facelift of Skoda Laura. Many congrats!

Does anyone know what grade of ATF is used in 2007 Skoda Laura L&K AT (DSG)?

Re: Skoda Laura: Problems & solutions thread

I think Laura petrol was never available in L&K trim.
Anyway, congrats on the 1.8 TSi. Awesome machine!

Thanks alot! Mine is a Laura 2.0 TDI L&K Version. Regarding the ATF Fluid, Company suggest to change it at 4 years or 60000 Kms (whichever comes earlier).

Oil Grade: VW TL 521 82 You would require around 7 Litres (not sure though).

Do you mind sharing the price for which you bought?

DSG fluid costs approx Rs.1625 per liter at the Skoda ASC (part number: G052182A2). This was pre-GST and the prices may have dropped.

An aftermarket option from Liqui Moly: https://www.amazon.in/Liqui-Moly-200.../dp/B00ABX8R2E

I have paid a tad more than the market price . But that was for the impeccable upkeep and the never ending list of accessories and mods.

Would there be any considerable difference in the shifting? Have you tried LiquiMoly. I was planning to change the ATF oil since the car has crossed 6 years.

I haven't tried the Liquimoly DCT fluid. I don't expect it to be any better than OE fluid from ASC as the particular fluid is not specified as a performance variant.

The same Liquimoly DCT fluid costs only Rs.1100 per liter in Amazon germany. It is easier to get hold of this than the OE VW fluid when you are doing the job on your own or in the aftermarket, that's all.

Thanks for the clarity. Looks like there wont be any benefit in going with aftermarket replacement like OWS or Liqui Moly. Cheers!

I need to top off the oil in my TSI am not able to get the OE Castrol Magnatec Professional oil outside. Can someone pl tell me where to get it online or is it OK to top it off with something like Shell helix Ultra?
(do not want to visit the A.S.S for this)

Would not recommend mixing of oils from different companies even if they are same grade unless you are absolutely stranded.

Here I found Castrol Magnatec on Amazon. If this does not match the correct grade then you'll probably be forced to visit the ASS. Would recommend that you buy an extra litre of engine oil when you change your engine oil at the next service since TSIs are known to consume a little oil between services.

Nah I think its OK for a top up. Skoda themselves were using Shell Helix Ultra when I bought the car. Later when the entire VAG group tied up with Castrol as their preferred oil vendor, Skoda too started using OE professional which is supplied to OE's only and not in the open market. So lot of cars running on Shell filled from the factory which came for top up would have got topped up with Castrol. I myself have topped up with Shell in my TSI without any issues.

I think this 'you are not supposed to mix oils of different brands' theory is floated by oil companies to prevent you from using competitor's products.

In any case I think it is better to top off with same grade - different company than different grade - same company. The one on sale in Amazon is 5W-30.
