Skoda Laura: Problems & solutions thread

Thought it would be helpful for all the Laura owners here to share problems/knowledge about Laura.
We should keep adding to this thread any problems/solutions on Laura, that could be a cool handbook/reference guide!
To start with, I'm posting few links on technical knowledge base on Skoda Laura (Octavia II in Europe) below.

Briskoda Link on Octavia II (Laura) technical discussions:
Octavia II Skoda Model Discussion Area - Octavia II at BRISKODA.net - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forums

TDI club link on "How to" videos:
TDIClub and CinciTDI.com "How To" Video Clips

Will keep adding more and welcome others to add when ever some information is found!

How to enable ORVM heating on Laura Ambiente?

On Laura Ambiente, ORVM heating capability is disabled.

What is ORVM heating?
This helps in rain, to keep the ORVM dry and get better visibility.

When I checked the mirror (pull the glass out from door side bottom corner), heating element and wiring is done up to the mirror!
That means, it is possible to enable the heating capability. I strongly suspect, fuses are not installed that enables this feature.

I'm going to give it some try this weekend, but it will be great help if any Laura L&K owners could post pictures of Fuse Box (one under the bonnet, and other on the driver's side dashboard side panel).

Any suggestion, most welcome!

power hood lift for Laura!

One could fit a power hood lift for Laura.
This is available in European Octavia II, but not for Indian version!!

What is power hood lift?
Tired of lifting the heavy bonnet and tucking the bar in position?
Try this! you could just lift it with one finger and bonnet lifts by itself.
This is available on Jetta launched in India.

This could be a easy extra fit on Laura.

power hood lifts are available for Octavia II (Laura) at: SKODA TUNING SHOP for Octavia, Octavia II, Fabia, Roomster, Superb, Felicia : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com
I'm not aware of any Indian importer/seller in after market.

Any thoughts?

Before you start playing with the fuses check whether the diagram in the manual and the actual layout are the same. The lhd to rhd conversion means that the layout might be a mirror image

Remote boot opener

Have a few queries.

1. Can any one tell me how the boot can be opened using the car remote key?
2. only the driver side door unlocks when using the remote key and the remaining doors stay locked.

1. Hold the boot open button pressed for 2 sec (this is the center button on remote)
2. press unlock button twice to open all doors

As per the manual, it is normal. But in long term this also causes headlamps to loose the transparency.

Since Laura assembly has a good packing all over this is not bound to happen.
Check if the back side of headlight assembly is tightly fixed

Monsoon Trouble

Need some help on this,
my car was caught in a 3-4 feet deep rain water in my basement level garage, after draining all the water (both from my car and garage as water had entered my car), i then started my car with no apparant problems, gave it some gas and water just kept coming from my exhaust tail pipe afterwhich i went for a small test drive and noted the foll:

1. the car seems fine, no engine problems and no warning lights on,
2. tried all electronics which seems alright,
3. swtiched on the music system and HU looks to be working fine but no sound is coming from the speakers,
4. the horn sound is very dull.

Will be giving the car for a complete checkup on monday, is there anything i should specifically have checked by the service guys, and what possibly could be the problem with speakers?
