Engine Knocking in all gears.

i have a 2001 mpfi esteem thats just done 36k km and is in absolutely sweeet condition. it hasnt been modified much in the engine stakes and just has a custom 4x2x1 header and free flow setup from viper. the power on tap is amazing and the free flow setup is tuned for low to mid end power.
recently ive noticed that the engine has been knocking miserably and theres a slight loss of power when the air conditioning is on. it happens regularly now.
is it anything to do with the gas pipe that connects the tappet box to the air filter, because we have a torn pipe but theres no replacement available for that even in MASS. its just a small rubber pipe and a valve running from the engine to the air filter and is referred to by mechanics as the 'gas pipe'
can the torn leaking pipe be attributed this knocking and loss of power????
these things i regularly do so cant attribute to them, they are:
1. carbon clean: done
2. throttle body and injector cleaning: done 2000 km ago
3. full service and lube: done 120km ago
4. use of fuel: only power from a trusted pump added with iftex system g, 10ml for every 10 litres
5. air filter: checked..

please advise. if u dont have an idea about what pipe im talking about, ill take pics in daylight tomorrow.
thanx in advance..

plug malfunctioning would be a massive drop in power... theres a loss of say 5%

If one plug is acting funny? No, I don't think so. And how do we know it is 5%?

i drive the car daily so i know its not that much of a power loss. i would assume its 5-8%. i know thres no way to arrive at these percentages but its an approximation and i may be wrong.
how does one check if the ignition timing if its going wrong.. any signs?
