Is it fully synthetic? Can you let us know which make and type of oil you have administered? Info will be useful.

I dunno which. It is the Honda default synth oil (idemitsu?). They charged Rs 2800. Unfortunately, I could not stay with the car that day, although I badly wanted to.

Honda uses Idemitsu Synthetic Oil 0W40. For City also the price is similar.
Oil- Approx Rs2800
Oil Filter - Rs 183.
Just replaced Oil and Oil Filter for City during the 3rd free service and bill was Rs3011. Nice to know that the amount of Oil is same for both City & Civic
Cheers.
My Civics front chrome grill(the one with the H logo) is kind of cracked and looks a bit shabby.I have used a team-bhp sticker to mask the crack but it still shows. Can any one tell me where i can get a replacement for the same and at what price ?
thanks
@mkpiyengar; I think it is 0W30. This is what my invoice says.
Oil changed to Castrol Edge (full synthetic) 5W40. It costs a bomb, but worth it. Car feels very smooth. Noise has come down quite a bit. Maybe that perception has been accentuated by the new serpentine belt too.
Should thank Bhpian and friend Monaro CV8, for introducing me to this independent garage which was a great experience.

Did you buy it at MRP. 4300? I bought 4L pack of edge for Rs. 2900/- which I guess is a little more than what Honda charges for idemitsui for Civic.

Well, Edge was 5k for 4L. It looks like prices of engine oil has gone up as I remember that I had paid about 1.5k for Honda Idemitsu oil last time (May 11). Now folks are almost paying double.

Hmm..5k is damn expensive for 4L, but yes the oil is good...now you have another reason for using it for 15k kms...lolzzz. I too got Motul 5L pack for cedia for 5300, couldnt dare to buy it again, especially when I was to change the oil every 10k considering my driving style...but after using edge, I found it better than motul..
In btw, 5k was MRP or without tax?
@dot
why was the serpentine belt changed ?
and no updates regards to what happened to the oil sump as to how it got damaged ?
@dot and @gaurav
5w-40 aint that a completely wrong grade for civic ?
cause manual specifies either 10w30 (mineral) or 0w-30(synthetic)

Most synthetics come in 5W 40 grade, I think the 40 signifies it can take higher temperatures than 30. And 0 means it can survive in more cold than 5. So, ideally 0W 40 in Mobil 1 can take more cold temperatures than 5W 40 and can take more hot temperatures than 0W 30.. But unless you live in cities with extreme temperatures, (Srinagar may be or which is the hottest in India..?) any of these grades will do fine..

Serpentine belt was changed due to my quest to reduce the tensioner noise even more as there was a official Honda bulletin for some 06 Civics to change it. Even though Scorponok is 07, I decided to try it out. I think even laluks had to change it. The slight flapping noise during rapid acceleration has gone.
BTW, I drove another 07 Civic with 1.31L Kms on it. It also had the same tensioner noise. I was reading several Honda Fit (Jazz) forums. Owners have noticed a similar phenomenon on the L series engine also. The noise has been traced to loose valves.

Oil pan updates to come on Scorpo thread soon.
@dot

did you do at Honda or outside?
Last time I changed the belt it cost about 4k, but that was more than a year ago.

The belt was about 1800INR. Actually, the old belt has been put back as there was no difference in sound or performance. They took back the new belt. This entire operation was done at an independent garage.
