I am not saying the cover would prevent the rats from getting in the engine bay.The cover is just to keep the dust/sunlight away.

Are you 110% sure thats AC water and not diluted coolant which has lost its color and looks like water ?

coolant will have very little greasy or lubricant type feel to it.

and from where does the water fall ?

Also check all the hoses and connections specially near the thermostat as generally near these joints due to age of metal it gets corroded and starts to leak in minor amounts. Look for any accumulation of dry coolant it will have either blue stain or brownish rusty stain where it has dried up.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

has anyone here managed to get the Civic to autolock at a certain speed ? I read on Civic forums and tried all possible permutations and combinations of buttons to pressed - nothing so far.

Honda A.S.S is pretty much A.S.S without the dots.

Anyone ?

I think Honda India has flicked the auto-locking feature and saved about Rs. 1,000

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hello,

after lot searching for good options for headlight bulb upgrade even though am using Philips Extreme vission direct replacement bulbs still not completely satisfied,
Finally found 100w bulb to replace the 9005 bulb in high beam with required relay and wiring.

So now my plan is,
Replace the Philips extreme vision bulbs with the 100w bulbs in Hi-beam.
The Hi-Beam Extreme vision bulb which come out to put it in low beam.

fitting the 9005 bulb in 9006 space might need some very minor changes to the body of the bulb but it can be done without doing any damage to headlight assembly.

the bulb company is the same OEM that comes with civic.
Cost involved
650x2 + 1200 (relay, wiring and labor) = 2500.

will be getting the things done tomorrow,
will upload before and after pics after its done.

Does anyone have recommendation for bulb upgrade of Fog lamps ? want to increase the throw and NO HID due to cost constraints and i don't prefer HID cause without projector it blinds the on-coming traffic.

How did you get it working?
What is the model year of your civic? As I understand that feature is not there. Tried Several cheat codes before concluding on the same.

I've come to the conclusion that autolock was only introduced with the facelift. It cannot be activated on cars before that.

I didn't know that you already had xtreme vision. How was the performance in comparison to the stock headlights? Is it so unsatisfactory that you decided to go in for another major upgrade.

Thanks.

It works for me as well. Feb 2010 V AT model. I think it was enabled in the facelift (Nov 09) version as default setting. Any older AT owners have it working? I think a cheat code was posted in another thread on Civic tips and tricks. How about auto-unlock? My car doors get unlocked once the gear lever is in P position. Not sure how it works in MT cars.

July 2010 V M/T here. The doors auto lock at 16 kmph (10 mph) and auto-unlock when the key is turned from on to off.

Mine autolocks at about 15-16 kph! With the ECU I do not think it costs anything to add or remove this.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hello all,

As i had mentioned it before on the thread that i would be doing the bulb upgrade to 100w for Hi-beam which has bulb no.9005 as no upgrade options available for 9006 no bulb except for Extreme Vision which i already have.

So finally today got the bulbs of Hi-beam upgraded to 100w 9005 HB3 costing 650 per piece along with relay and wiring the bulb is of Navara company of Germany its OEM to Bmw and Merc.

The bulbs which came out of the hi-beam position were philips extreme vision 60w with bulb no 9006 which after little bit of mods to the bulbs manage to fit them inside the low-beam and coupled with the new 100w Hi-beam the difference is SUPERB!!

Total cost to me was
650x2 for bulbs = 1300
Relay + wirring + sockets + labor =1500

Total =2800rs am not counting the cost of Extreme vision here as i already had them.
but just for record each bulb of extreme vision is 475rs.

Will let the pics do the talking, dont know how to add text before each pic so
1st pic All Lights OFF
2nd pic Low Beam having 60w Philips extreme vision
3rd pic Hi + Low + fogs
4th pic Hi + Low + fogs to give depth of view of light throw
5th pic Bulb box.

@sdking
The extreme vision were improvement over the absolute blind and rubbish stock bulbs but yet didn satisfy 100% it satisfied me only 70% but current setup am very much satisfied.
