Thanks for sharing these photos, showing the innards of the Civic.
Waiting to hear on the feedback.

Hope I do not get to see mine opened up for a long time to come!

Within 49 days, my shortest time between two services, reason was my Goa trip of 2,750 kms within a week in May.
I am wondering what is the figure for the 100,000km service. Here plugs, coolant, etc are also to be replaced.

I had posted details of this in Feb 2012 in this thread, post #2827

And the photos of my spark-plugs (which had done 1,00,000 kms) in post #2835:

I must say 10k (excl oil) is very impressive. Also, the plugs held up very well.

I asked the same a few days ago, but got no responses. I tried the Bosch dealers since now Bosch makes 'civic type' wipers for almost all cars including civic called 'aero twins' with adapter system to fit standard arms. Of course they are priced 2x-4x standard 'syndicate' or even their own standard ones.

Initially they quoted Rs. 2k for set (including blade and rubber) but then they said that Bosch had withdrawn the same for the Civic due to some technical problems.

I finally got mine changed at HASS only. After all these years I was not happy with driver's side so I changed blade+rubber and for pax side only rubber. The old blade had become stiff (could be easily felt when compared with the new one) so was not wrapping around the curve properly and chattering terribly, plus not cleaning. The new one cleans superbly and silently. Unfortunately the HASS did not have the pax side blade, only the rubber and I did not want to waste time again, so will change the blade at the next monsoon now if required.

Cost for RHS blade+rubber=900, rubber only=600.

I did not know that rubber and blade are sold separately. Isn't it enough to change the rubber in such cases.

Yes, it usually is. But I was having problems still. The culprit turned out to be the stiff blade. For extra Rs. 300, changing the blade as well was very much worth it.

I enquired last week and the blades were quoted at Rs 460 for a Bosch set. Now am intrigued whether these were just the rubbers or rubber and blade set. Hella is also apparently in same price range. I will check on that and update.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Am planning for a 850km one-way non stop highway trip somewhere in mid August. Return will be after a week.
A 2010 VAT model with 17k on board. The 15k service was done couple of months back.
Anything specific that I need to do in terms of maintenance before I embark on this trip with family?

I don't think you need anything particular for a Civic to be done before undertaking a long journey since the Civic is reliable vehicle. You just need to do pretty standard stuff like check the wipers, battery, tyres (you could get the alignment & balancing checked if you haven't done so),oil levels etc.

As I had posted here before, I have done a 2,750 kms round-trip (Tuticorin <-> Goa) this May just after my 1,05,000 kms service (2007 model AT). No problems!

Since yours is brand-new (by comparison) you have nothing to worry about.

However if you want peace-of-mind, you can do a quick-checkup (done every 5K, ie, all fluids check and top-up, thorough cleaning, brakes check and cleaning, etc) for less than (I think) Rs.900.

Since mine is also an AT, I would check the battery condition, particularly the specific-gravity of the individual cells to detect any warning signs.

I have made this mistake before, I was warned and I got stranded on the highway with a dead oem battery @ 2 years and 9 months, odo: 57K (details posted here in Feb 2010).

Also I remember an old posting of laluks having his front brake pads worn out on his trip to Goa and has to change it there (The brakes started making the screetching noise).

I would also personally check the tyre pressure a day before that long trip.

Sarathlal,

I just did Bangalore -Udaipur and Back (including a few other places) in my 2010 V AT with 41,000 Km.No problems faced whatsoever. As Manim suggested, do a Quick service to check Battery, Oil levels, Brakes etc.And very important- Never check air pressure midway during the trip and adjust it back to required Cold pressure of 30 PSI.If possible carry a foot pump or electric pump & a tubeless puncture kit to take care of puncture situation. Though at 17000 Km, Batteries should be in a good condition,if possible take a jumpstarter cable.

Have a safe trip.

Cheers.

Last year I did a 3500km trip in peak summer with no issues even though the car was running almost non stop for 16-18 hrs. It's a very reliable vehicle, nothing to worry.

Just do regular checks of all fluids, tyres etc and you are good to go
