Also, does anybody know what type of brake pads are used on Civic? Are they Ceramic, Semi Metallic or Organic?

The 55,000 kms Servicing + Clutch + Lower Arms + Battery Bill

Got my alternator rebuilt at the local mechanic. Took him 2 days and the charging system is back to its normal working condition. I hope it stays like that and I can continue feeling happy about getting it fixed inside nearly 1/8 cost of a new Honda alternator.

Coming back to the topic of Cabin Air Filter, I just replaced my old one. It was installed in April. Pictures of the old and new are attached for reference. The old one was also pure white when installed.
And this is when I drive almost always on re-circulation mode. In fresh air mode, the amount of dirt would be even more.
Without the filter, this dirt would go over the evaporator coil and either clog it or reduce the effectiveness.

Hello,

I have latched on to this (cabin air filter) discussion only recently so please pardon my ignorance.

You got your filter from USA.

As is evident from your photos it is a life saver, especially in India.

Did you try sourcing it in India? What is the cost here?

Many thanks in advance.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

any suggestions where I can get the maf sensor cleaned in gurgaon/delhi. HASS has refused to touch it, they say that they can replace the whole throttle body but will not clean MAF as it can never get dirty! New throttle body is for 45k!

I could not find it here. I guess one of our members got it from Honda, but it cost more than 3.5K here. While this one is for around 10 USD.
Try ordering it on Amazon, with shipping to India. See what the cost works out to before placing the final order.
If the landed cost is between 1000-1500 rupees, I still think it would be a good deal.

But its really silly that the filter is left out in a place like India where it is most needed.

This filter was a perfect fit for the Civic, or were there any 'adjustment's to be made to fit?
Found the same model in amazon; http://www.amazon.com/Mann-Filter-MC...n+filter+civic

And then there are two other brands with much better reviews;
http://www.amazon.com/Wix-24815-Cabi...c+cabin+filter
http://www.amazon.com/CF10134-Fresh-...c+cabin+filter

You can buy on Amazon, they ship to India and also take care of customs.
Locally, it is available on Ebay, but again, the person imports from USA and sells it to you. You rather buy it on Amazon. See search results here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_...nid=2944662011

Perfect fit. Just drop it in. The other 2 in the links are also same size.
Have been using them for 3.5 years now.
The amount of dust in my car is extremely low. One does not find a layer of dust on the dash if my car has been driving around with windows closed, even in very dusty weather, which is the norm in Gurgaon.

Also, if you look at the dirty filter closely, there are a lot of soot particles trapped. They are the real harmful ones for lungs.

The dust, lint and hair are more likely to clog the evaporator rather than cause health problems, except allergy.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Where exactly can I find the instructions to locate the slot for the filter? Looking at the difference in the used and new filter, its scary that I inhale so much of dust while driving.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

But is there a reason why Honda didn't put it in in the first place? I read sonewhere that it reduces the airconditioning airflow. is that true?
