@dot - the sound definitely was louder than the stock setup, and the grunt was good (subjective scenario). The performance seemed to improve, and a felt her a bit agressive (subjective), but not too much. The feel could also be inside me due to the sound effect.

I guess you can try this out without much worries. One pipe goes from the air filter box to resonator. Another pipe goes from resonator to little above the wheel well behind the rubber cover.

You can try and remove the pipe from the air filter box and test around. Its easy to remove that. If you find it complicated, I suggest you remove the bumper and then it is as easy at it seems in front

Thanks for the information. I will certainly try this out sometime. But let the rains go off.

It is better to open the end near the resonator box as it will draw in cold air from the fog lamp dam. If we open the pipe near the air filter box, it will surely recreate the change of engine note, but will also suck in hot air from engine bay.

An urgent help.
I recently brought an Autogauge 2 in 1 digital Voltmeter+RPM meter.
Need to install this in my CIVIC. When connected, Voltmeter works fine.
Though I already have a stock RPM meter in a CIVIC, but I want this Autoguage unit to be installed seperately which looks cool too (Digital RPM ;-) with Led's )
Has anybody installed an addon tachometer in CIVIC ?
Now from the gauge where do I have to clip the RPM wire into ? Where in distributor ? Or does the RPM singal come from ECU ? How easy is it to install an RPM meter in a civic?

Can be done in this way, BUTTTT.........
I don't want to open my dashboard and tap the wire which is for RPM meter in the dashboard.

@ sushruta - are you trying to tap the line out from the ecu and give to your tacho? Since it also acts like a volt meter I guess it takes in the analog voltage and converts to rpm.

Now even if you tap the wire, how can we calibrate the tacho if need be? Any possibilities?

Tapping from the dash is easy. Removing the tacho meter is a simple job

That's what 8th civic forum says, but that's for Si version of civic.

I'm planning to tap the wires from ECU.
The Tacho which I have now can be used for 2,4,6,8 etc cylinders.
Seems like I have to switch to use the 2 cylinder mode instead of 4 cylinder one ,which will do the conversion properly.

Here in Bangalore, they won't even allow you to put E-oil if you get it from outside, I don't know as how the'll allow me to get my ECU Tapped.

Edit - Can somebody help me on this soon,

I got Mobil1 from outside and had no problems. They wanted me to note that I have provided teh oil, so I wrote something like Mobil1 0W40 API-SM Full Synth provided by me. No issues after that.

There are some links on the net about the harness pin diagram. However they are getting blocked by the office firewall. Will try to check them from home and post at night.

I am thinking of installing a vtec indicator.


OT: Linkway Honda seems to be very customer friendly. The Saint installed his Konis there, Jatinpatel also has friends inside..wow.

To reach the tacho meter we need to concentrate on the centre console with the Music system and the piece of dash behind the stering. So the Driver and passenger airbag units are not touched. They are left as it is assembled.

To remove the centre music system console you'll have to remove two screws/bolts from below. You will need the right tool for this.



The red arrow shows the small storage space in the dash. Look there and you'll see a small piece of removable rectangular plastic under the music system. Using a cloth around a flat screw driver remove that. You'll see the two screws/bolts that have to be removed.







The above schematic shows exactly the same. Once the two screws/bolts are removed, pull the console out slowly. Voila - you have your music system in hand But don't pull it harder, the wiring harness is still connected.






Now to remove the panel behind the Steering to reach your tachometer.

Step1.
Remove the panel below the steering. Just rotate the rotary knob and slowly pull it out. Its just some clips.








Step2
Remove the panel below the steering








Step 3
Remove the panel behind the steering





Step4
Slowly pull it out.






Now you see your Tachometer!!

Found something, not sure if this can extract the RPM signals. Seems to have the vtec point though.
