Can anyone help me on the following:

- Is it possible to fit Driver information system(new models) on the 2006 SMT?
- Is it possible to retrofit cruise control?
- How much does the side view mirrors cost, RHS mirros glass got broken in an accident. Is is possible to get only the glass replaced?
- How can I fit fog lamps and VMT's side view mirrors on SMT?
- What is the price of floor carpet mats (Honda OEM).

The RPM meter unit has the new information display unit. I am not too sure if the old models have the capability to send those messages to the new unit. Some R&D is required

Cruise control is not normally an aftermarket add on.

Side view glass alone can be purchased - around Rs350

Fog lamps - the bumper in your SMT has provisions to fit them. But if it is of the new V models, probably a little more effort may be required.

The Side mirror with turn lamps, is a single unit and could be replaced on a normal SMT. The already present side indicator lamps can be tapped for the supply to the indicators on the side mirror. But just for the inidcators, purchasing the entire units seems to be a bit expensive. Also it is prone to the biker attacks very easily

Floor Carpets - the entire one costs around Rs 4500

Let me add a side comment. Cruise Control in our conditions is pretty useless. You are not able to maintain constant speed for even one minute.

I meant the one that is put through out the bottom inside. The other after market ones I guess it comes as a set.

If i am not mistaken the driver information system. Means the addition of avg-fuel consumption and range and maybe even instantaneous fuel efficiency readout. In the slot where we folks with the pre-facelift only get ODO and two tripmeters.

It may help for hyper-milers like me (Though I have never tried/used Cruise-control on any car so far).

The new 4-lanes here (deep south-india) are good and mostly empty, and I drive at 85~95 kmph at steady speeds. Since mine does not have Cruise-control it is a pain in my right-leg to hold a steady position for long drives (eight hour drives).

In fact I was recently challenging my friend that I can do the drive from Tuticorin to Madurai (130 kms) without using the brake even once!

Booked the date for my 95K service next week, and will post details here.

The only thing in addition for the facelift version is average fuel consumption display which is linked to the two trip meters. There is no range or instantaneous fuel consumption displays.

CC may be useful if you can get a safe section in the road where you can maintain the same speed for longer than, say 5 minutes at least. However it will not help in hypermiling much as the car with try its best to maintain the set speed at about + or - 1 kmph and thereby upshifting or downshifting as required, whereas if we have control of gas, we may relax it a bit in some conditions and avoid downshifting, whenever possible. Effectively fuel consumption will be more in CC mode. It is just for convenience, and in an AT car, you can virtually sit cross-legged on the seat!

And the outside temperature display. Not a whole lot more than what was there earlier, and definitely none of the current standard offerings (DTE/range, instantaneous F/E, TPMS etc.).

Have they added DTE and instantaneous F/E in the sunroof facelift (Feb. '11)?

Also, the fuel consumption display is about 10% optimistic.

Very optimistic indeed. I would in fact say 15 if not 20%!

It shows me 12.1 kmpl over the 21567 kms my car has done so far whereas my logs say the F/E is between 10 and 10.5 kmpl.

You are correct. 15% is more like it. My driving pattern is somewhat funny - pottering about town (mostly home to IIT) and then highway runs to Lucknow and Gwalior. It is only the latter that I can get some decent data. Here the NH2-NH91 combo is odd (indicated 14+kpl in the former reducing to 11.x kpl overall, thanks to the moonscape that NH92 is). The actual is 10.x

I certainly agree as I have exactly done that on Interstates in my Altima. The posture can be pretty relaxing.

Sitting cross legged is a bit too far. What do you on in Col D.O.G. decides to cross the road all of a sudden? Relaxed but alert is what I will say.
