Today's article in Times Drive mentioned something to the effect that you can enhance the life of the clutch if you shift gears without using the clutch (if done properly or something).
anyone can explain this ?

Ok heres the bottom line -
Yes, if done perfectly you wouldn't ever need to use the clutch except to start the car moving from a standstill.
No, you (or anyone) will not be able to do it consistently perfect, and so while saving your clutch you will be ruining your gearbox and syncros.

My dad used to do this on his Premier Padmini. He even taught me how but I was not as consistent as him. however you need to have a bit of room in traffic to do this.
