Re: Car moves forward without pressing the accelerator ...normal?

There is a pretty steep incline near my home in Kochi. With 2 people on board, in first gear, my Punto (diesel) could climb that incline without any accelerator input. It could do the same in reverse as well.

Nothing can be far from the truth when people talk about this 'torque-y diesel moving without A pedal'.

Puny motors depending on the turbocharger means that lower end torque is totally gone.

I yearn for the NA diesel days when the A pedal was also my brake pedal and my left hand and left foot did not have to work so much in the traffic.

My Figo surges ahead in third gear without pressing of the accelerator. In fact the effect is more prominent in third gear than in first or second.
I also remember that my carburetor M 800 used to crawl in first gear without pressing of the accelerator pedal.

Completely normal. Diesels have very good bottom end torque. So all the diesel cars love to crawl at lower revs.

Hello there,

What if the car, an Indigo, moves forward in first gear even when the clutch is fully pressed?

This is what I have noticed in my company car.

What could be the cause?

Thanks.

Adjustment of the Clutch needs to be looked into.

When the clutch pedal is pressed, the engine should not be transferring the rotation to the gearbox side which in your company car's case isn't happening so get it checked.
