what is 'meaning' ? Sound from shaft or gears

Hi Guys,
I get sounds while in lowspeed <40kmph, which is supposed to be caused by 'meaning' of Iam not sure if that means the play in between the gear teeth or Does it refer to drive shaft. I drive a Boelro 4WD.

Any insights are well appreciated. Thank you.

What sounds?
be a bit more specific please.
Since you are saying shaft or gear does that mean it is a sound coming from engine/gearbox? is it a rattle? grinding noise?

Iceman91/shashank
Its grinding noise 'thud' sound for every revolution (<40kmph only) .
From what I understand, it was intially supposed to be coming from
'front_drive_shaft connecting transfer_case to front_differential'
where front_drive_shaft meets the front_differential
(wht the chief mechanic tole me at m&m dealer Automotive)
He R&R'd shaft-front_differential but the sound still persists,
So, Iam assuming its the backlash (in the female-male gear teeth).
1. Is backlash is also referred as meaning ?
2. Finding problem this around 68K - is it normal ?
FYI. I drive myself and has been driving for the last 15 yrs.

@Shashank, too little asked for him to respond !

Helps if you state what are the details you are looking for, so he can provide enough information for you to respond to him.

@JP:
* what is the gear-speed ratio you use, for each of your gears ?
* In what gear does this sound happen ?
* Is it heard at some specific event - turns, bumps, braking, accleration etc ?
* Any recent incidents (before this started, like hitting a bump at high speeds etc ) ? Has anything happened recently - something bigger ?

Hi, does this thud sound appear when ever you accelearte from zero, and cases when you keep the vehicle runnig at some gear (acc pdeal at rest), and suddenly press it hard. If so then it means there is some play mostly between the crown and pinion inside the differential. You could get this solved by adding an appropriate shim inside the differential case. If possible get under the vehicle and try rotating the propeller shaft. You can physically feel the play if there is some.
