Re: Cracking the Da Vinci "TATA Safari 2.2l" ECU Code

Hi Tanveer,

I do not have a diagnostic tool - so don't know what error code.

The ASS electrician too did not opt for a 'laptop diagnosis' instead told me that 4x4 ECUs rarely go kaput. Sometimes it is due to moisture or some 'contact problem' that such problem with the lights crops up. Once the ECU registers this, it remains in it's memory. That's why resetting the ECU has for the time being solved the problem. He says the chances of the lights coming on again is 50%.

You do not need a diagnostic tool, but a simple bulb and wires.
Connect one end to +12V of battery, and other end to the wire hanging out from under the front seat.
The bulb will glow in a pattern telling you error code

short blink = 0 long blink = 1

Great..

It is working fine as of now. In case the problem re-appears, I am better equipped (with a wire and 12V bulb )

Re: Cracking the Da Vinci "TATA Safari 2.2l" ECU Code

I want to know how to read the ECU in storme. And is there any report we can pull to check what features can that ECU support, but are masked.

Masked here, I mean 'not listed' or 'advertised'.

Example: something like cruise control (I am aware of the fact that if it works, TATA would have already done. But we never know until we check). how do we verify if this can supported by ECU.

Thanks.

Re: Cracking the Da Vinci "TATA Safari 2.2l" ECU Code

Guys,

I wanted to know which OBD bluetooth scanner is compatible with Safari 3.0 Dicor (2005). Please let me know any specific make so that I can order one asap. I have shortlisted VGate scanner as they are compatible with the 2.2Vtt. Just wanted to confirm if this will work with the 3.0 before ordering.

Hello. Reopening an old thread.
Could you please tell me the year of manufacture of your safari dicor?
I am looking to buy an obd scanner and I drive a 2007 make 2.2 Dicor.
According to the thread Torque pro, OBD Car Doctor, fun2drive apps can be used. I am skeptical about the OBD scanner to buy as most of the queries by potential customers of VGate scanners have been mentioned that these scanners are for tata vehicles of 2010 make or later and might not support vehicles manufactured before 2010.

Can anyone throw some light on this?

Thankyou

It was made mandatory in India to use standard OBD protocols from year 2010. I think this was part of BS IV standards. So ELM 327 devices should work with all the vehicles post 2010. It is generic answer by sellers as they do not have facts of all vehicles. Vgate scanners are claimed to be best of all the scanners. If somebody is successful with safari for OBD with some ELM 327 device then Vgate device should support this without any problem.

I have a 2007 Nov TATA SAFARI 2.2 DICOR VTT LX AND a 2006 July TATA INDIGO TDI LX. I am out to purchase a scanner which would be compatible for both. Kindly suggest company, apps and how to use 9with laptop or my Nexus 5x, etc)
