Replaced quiet a few parts since they were all worn-out(70k Kms old), got them myself from City Motor Co, Opera House.

Suspension Related Parts
Front Shocks - INR 3,800
Front Strut kit – INR 450
Lower Arms – INR 3,000
Linkage Bush Kit – INR 250
Balance Rod Bush Kit – INR 100

Steering Related Parts
Steering Ball joint – INR 1,000
Tie rod ends – INR 750

Other Worn-out Parts
Front Wheel Bearing – INR 1,400
Brake Pads – INR 650
Front Centre Engine Mounting – INR 850

Total Labour – INR 1,000

Grand Total – INR 13,250

Got the steering rack checked, not a single drop of oil has leaked and was told that its as good as new. The suspension rattles have absconded but there are other things I need to take care of. The interior door panels/plastic parts are rattling and I just don’t know what to do about them. Plz suggest a solution guys…..do you know of a guy who can do this for me?
Good prices on everything. Heading to Opera House in a day or two myself. As for the rattling parts, get it checked by someone who does fitting of seatcovers. They will generally tighten up all door-panels after installing the door trims that come with the seatcovers. Where do you stay? I can suggest my guy if you live in/around Malad.

One question from myself. What was the part-number of the brake-pads you bought for your VTEC? Or do you just go and ask them for "Old Honda City VTEC ka front brake pads?" And can you fit better brake pads from some other car than the OEM ones? Will be getting an estimate for EBC pads soon.

Just go and tell them that you need brake pads for the Type1/2/3 City and they will know. There are various qualities available...there was one other quality which cost 1650 which is almost 2.5 times the cost of the one i bought.

Make sure you buy your parts from a reputed guy who gives you original stuff.

I stay in Bandra but if you know of someone who is really good i can go to him for sure. There are many seat cover walas at Milan subway also.

650 for a set is very tempting but i dont think its wise to sacrificing quality when it comes to brake pads. Im sure you can find pads with similar ratings as the ones provided by Honda for less than 2.5-3K.

And in any case brake pads wear out once every 35-45K (on an average). So might as well go in for the best.

Dont know about the ones which cost 2.5-3k but the best quality available in mumbai i am told costs 1650.

And changing the pads sooner than 40k kms shouldent be a bad idea. I do it on every alternate service ie.' 10-12k kms

Hi All,I got my OHC suspension repaired today. My car has done 67k, the front suspension had been making noise for ever small stone at low speeds.Got it checked with Honda authorized. I was given an estimate of around 35k for strut, lower arm, tie rod etc all together. 35k for a car that i intend to own for the next 2 years only did not make sense.

Took it to a near by local garage. After a test drive and thorough check up
i was told everything is in good condition except for the strut. I picked up the strut for 4200 (Munjal showa-Original Honda supplier) and bush kit for 300. Two hours of job by 2 mechs, paid a labour of 300 rupees and the issue is resolved.

Am sharing some pictures for you all

I spent Rs. 46k for a very similar job at Prime Honda, Vaishali all from my own pocket.

But then I did not know the existence of TBHP

Good show Shreyas99 - i intend to do something similar very soon.
when you say strut - i presume you are referring to the front shock absorber ? and Rs4200 is for the pair correct ?

@KSM VTEC- what was the part you have mentioned as strut kit for Rs450 in your cost break up ?

I picked up the spares from JC road (General Motors). Watch out when buying as he initially tried to sell me a diff brand saying its original. Ask for
"Munjal showa".FYI... check this link Munjal Showa Ltd. (India) which mentions they are the original suppliers to Honda siel. Moreover once you remove your original shocks you will notice Munjal showa(along with year of Mfg) imprinted on it. The garage is neary my place in blore south. I feel any mech can do the Job for you. good luck.

Strut Kit is the rubber bushing/covering sits between the shock and its mount on top.
