Well done KSM

City Motors Opera House is the best place in Mumbai for OHC parts and if you know someone there he gives some discount as well. During my last service (the one where they crashed my car) they told me that brake pads were due for replacement and also that my brake discs need replacement. I asked them the estimate pat comes the reply 5000 for the brake pads and 15000 aprox for the discs.

Took the car to my trusted mechanic. There is absolutely no need for disc replacement. I got the brake pads changed cost me 950/- for the pads, they are made by KBX. Total expense including labour and disc cleaning and polishing came to 1400/- only.

My car goes to Honda only for service. For the rest I have my trusted mechanic. Hes not a road side types. His is a proper shop who also sells accessories and all his mechanics are in proper uniforms and badges with their names on it. I am actually glad I found a good mechanic which is realy hard to find these days.

Well i am sure you wont be surprised to know that it was Jitu who told me to get the parts from City Motors.

Got the parts fitted from a suspension specialist who luckily has a workshop next door...labour quality was good and charges reasonable.

In fact i also got my fuel tank & pump cleaned yesterday and the guy did a good job...but what we found inside was a sad story...

Dippy - OE pads are now available in the market for about 1200/- at least in Delhi. I've twice tried KBX pads but both times I faced squealing issues after the pads had done 10k odd kms.

I even took this up with a Bosch official at the Auto Expo (they had then acquired KBX) and he admitted it was an issue that they were trying to resolve and even if I had the pair replaced by them under warranty the issue would crop up again after a while.

But maybe, they've improved since then, do let us know how they fare for you.

The cheap KBX pads work ok only in slow speeds , they fade very badly if you brake a couple of times from highway speeds and life is very bad - max 15k kms.

Infact those cheap "KBX" may not be KBX at all.

Most OE quality Brake pads will be about 1200 - 1500 Rs.

Oh ya ...the fuel tank & pump clean up cost me only INR 500. The guys did a good job which contributed towards the preventive maintenance which is much needed with the kind of fuel we get here in India.
