Scorpio - Poor air flow from AC vents

I am getting extremely poor air flow through the air vents inside the car. At setting 1 the flow is negligible. At 2/3/4 setting it is more but accompanied with lot of noise.

I recently replaced the air filter.

Anybody faced similar issues? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Sash

Check your vent controls. It might be stuck at closed.
Get your ventilation piping checked for leaks.

Are you having the same issue in recirculating mode?

Hey! What are we talking about here?!
What on earth is that filter supposed to do then?

I suspect this is the result of fresh air intake. ?? Does the fresh air go through the filter? I don't think so.
Somebody please enlighten!

Yes fresh intake clogs the filter and this in turn causes reduced air flow. Where is the confusion?

this is the reason not all cars comes with HVAC air filter. even in fresh air intake mode, it passes through the filter. after use in dusty conditions, you are supposed to clean the filter, else it gets choked resulting in low air flow from the vents.

but since sashb has changed the filter, i think it has more to do with the vent closing mechanism. it is always advisable to use the AC in re-circulation mode, once in a week you can switch it to fresh air intake to allow fresh air inside the cabin.

If the filter is doing its job, how do the vents get clogged?

I had this problem in my Accent.
the blower would make a lot of noise and would give very less air.

Problem was sponge stuck in the filter.

@anup: lolz mate I think you took it too literally. What I meant by getting the vents opened was to get the entire delivery system cleaned by reaching inside the vents. And for that you need to open them, mate.

Wanderer, it's not about taking it too literally. Think about it. If the filter is doing it's job, there should be no reason for copious quantities of dust/dirt to go downstream and clog the vents.?
Am I missing something?

Open the glovebox all the way down by pressing the sides of the box to free the two stops. Once it is fully opened till floor level, unhinge it. Keep it aside.
Behind where the glovebox normally sits, you'll see a black rectangular 'door'/cover. Prise it open. Inside is the filter cartridge, which you can simply slide out.

The route is through the filter and it gets clogged reducing airflow. That is the problem. Plus I have seen a lot of quantities getting accumulated downstream even when the filter itself is clogged to its gills. How beats me too. Maybe the force of air does get a few to escape the filter as it gets clogged? Maybe, but I am not sure.
