Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi,

the pump attendants find it very difficult to open the fuel tank lid on my Indica Vista diesel. Sometime they just give-up and i have to wrestle with the lid myself for 5 minutes to get it open. Tried searching on this thread, didn't see this issue reported here. I usually do tank-fulls when i refuel.

Has anyone else faced this issue? any suggestion to get over this will be helpful. thanks

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hello,

this is NOT a niggle or issue, but query on the best practices.

I'm not using my Vista regularly. For long periods, (say 1 or 2 weeks) the car is Idle and is not used.

Should I be concerned with some parts getting deteriorated remaining idle ?

any specific precautions I can take to ensure that it remains in top condition ?

Vehicle is a diesel Vista 2012 VX model. I have replaced the front tyres and battery recently.

@Mods: Couldn't find a thread/forum with respect to keeping car idle for a long duration. Hence posting in this thread, though it is not a niggle/issue with the car as such. This can be applicable for ANY Car. If any other thread exists, which is more relevant for this post, kindly merge/move. Thanks

What I can suggest is having your car covered when not in use. Be prepared for a rat attack and maybe a discharged battery.
I was not using my Vista for almost 6 months. I had the car covered and had my FIL start the car every 2 weeks or so and take it out for a spin.
2 weeks should not matter too much.

Hey please go through this thread that is near to your query here.

Long Term Parking - Do's & Don't (Long-term Parking : Do's and Don'ts)

But i'll suggest you to:
  1. Disconnect the battery;
  2. Fill up all the 4 tyres to 40 psi so they don't go flat;
  3. Keep around 3/4 tank fuel in it to avoid any rusting issues.
  4. If possible ask someone to start the car for a minute or so to keep the internals in good condition.

My bike too was in the same state before selling it and I used to disconnect the battery and keep ~8 - 10 ltrs of petrol in it. Never has the bike let me down when I went back to use it for the rides.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

This my first post in TeamBhp feeling good to be a part of this amazing forum, and unfortunately it is about a problem with my VISTA quadrajet.

My car is completed over 80k km and running absolutely fine. recently I had a issue of Hissing noise during acceleration. Concorde (TAS) here in Bangalore diagnosed it as an issue with intake manifold and changed the gasket and the hoses as well.

Now the problem re-surfaced within 2 days and now they are telling its is a problem with the intake manifold itself since there is a crack and asking me to get it changed as the araldite they applied is not holding up.

This will cost me around 8k apparently.

Is this normal with vista's ? has anyone else faced this issue ?

Mostly it will be crack in intercooler. I changed two times in 7 years. I changed from outside TASS for Rs.4600.

Intercooler is sitting down and more prone to damage.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi friends, I own an Indica Vista and totally in love with my Car. I have purchased it Jan 2012 and it has completed 50k Kms on the ODO. From past few days I hear slight rattling sound from the front right hand side of the vehicle.
Has anyone else faced this issue?

Just to share the pic of my car. This was clicked last to last year.

The sound comes up while going slowly over potholes. Slowly here is around 15-20 km/h. I got the car checked twice and the service adviser could not figure out the sound still there.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

stupid question - are you sure its not some stuff inside the car?
I was not able to reproduce a similar noise at the workshop because i had taken everything out prior to give it for service.

I wish if it would have been that easy. But this sound is driving me crazy. Imagine the look at my wife's face when all of a sudden I put the music to mute and try to listen to that sound. Anyway, thank you for the reply. I will try to get this checked over this weekend.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Today when I started my car (Vista Vx / Quadrajet / 2012), the glow plug indicator was blinking and the check engine light did not go off.. I had to go a short distance of about 2km, I drove and came back without any issue, based on the advice of a FNG mechanic.

I checked with couple of FNGs in ORR and one of them have recommended to change all the glow plugs. The cost for labour + parts he's quoting Rs.3K.

The nearest TASC is quite a distance away (About 20 odd Km) and I don't have much of an opinion about them (Prerana motors near Hosur road)

Questions I have is, Should I take it to a TATA authorized service workshop or can it be done at a FNG ?

Anything I need to take care / be aware of ?

TIA

I have so far changed three glow plugs in my March 2011 Vista. Two during extended warranty and one a couple of months back. My suggestion is you can just change the one that has gone kaput. But please make sure you get a genuine spare as there have been cases of many spurious parts making way into reputed auto spare dealers in my city.

Always better to take it to the Tata authorized service center. They know to what to do and have the required spares. Sometimes the plug gets jammed inside and is difficult to remove.
I have changed 3 of the 4 plugs in my car. Costs about 1k a piece all done at the TASS.
