Trip meter in new i10 Kappa

The trip meter in my i10 both TRIP A and TRIP B resets back to 0 when it reaches 4 digits i.e., more than 1000 KMS. Is this normal or this is a defect?
Other i10 owners, please let me know.

I guess this is normal. Both the trip meters in my Getz also reset automatically after 999 kms.

Yes the trip meter resets after every 1000 kms. Use trip A first and then trip B.

Why is that it resets every 1000 KMS?
If I make a trip for more than 2000 KMS, how do I keep track?

If I have to make a note of the reading, then what is the use of having them?

I believe that 999-0 is a remnant of the good ole days of 3 digit analog tripmeters.
anyway, you's have to be sleeping to not notice the tripmeter go to 999. if you suddenly see the reading go back to 0, add 1000 to it. simple.

There has to be a cutoff at some point.
For most of us I guess 999Kms are sufficient to track the trip.
Even if the tripmeter is extended to say 9999kms, there may be someone again saying, it isnt sufficient for him.

Mostly people use trip meteres for calculating mileage & hence the limit of 999 suffices for most. Also when doing long trips you would rarely do more than 1000 kms in a day so it still helps to keep track of a one way trip or from point A to point B. For overall journey you still have the Odometer.
