I had given my car for service and after that i found that the belt had started making noise. When i start the car in the morning, the noise does not come but as i drive for a km or two the noise starts coming. As the car accelerates, the noise frequency also increases.
I have twice given it to the Hyundai workshop. They said that the car is new and hence the belt was a little dry. They told me that they had applied some lubrication. The problem disappeared and i happily went to ooty by car. Now that i have come back and driving as usual in Bangalore, the noise has again started coming.

Has any other Xing owner faced this kind of a problem??

Spray some powder on the belt or pulleys it might stop the sounds. If it doesnt theres some internal problem.

How many kms has your Xing covered?Which service had you given your car for?Was this sound there before giving it?And is the sound a 'screeching' noise, which itself is irritating, and increases/decreases as you drive?

the fan belt is loose...get it tightened...i dont know why the service center would you lubricate the belt...that will make it more noisy.

Hi Sush, Firstly Congrats for your New Machine...

I too faced the same problem and the sound from the belts reduced after i lubricated the belt with 4 to 5 drops of oil (used the engine oil from the dip stick)...The sound has stopped since then...

Lubrication is the only remedy i suppose...

The car has done around 2000 Km only. Anways i have given the car again to the JP Nagar service station (Advaith). However i didnt forget to scold them as this was the third time. Lets
see what happens now.

Yesterday i got the car back. Hyundai workshop people are saying that they have checked all belts etc but they could not eliminate the noise. Right now the noise is almost not there. Lets see what happens after a couple of days.

hey had the same problem... the belt slips thats why theres a noise had it in my accent... you need to tighten it or lubricate it.. dont change it till its a mess

think changing the belt is only solution.
why dont you try pouring some water when the sound is too much, helps i guess, coz my driver does that .
(any logical reason behind it guys?)

I have also noticed that if i put water there then the sound goes away. I didn't expect this from hundai. I have have 3 other cars (esteem, zen and m800) and never faced a problem like this and that too when the car is only 6 months old.

6 months old its too early fer that to happen...

Similar problem, might be worth a read.

hey..dude..i am facing the same problem right now..my car is just 7 months old..there is a werid noise..from the fan belt..when i start the car in the morning..and it seems like the belt got loose..i think its cause i rip the car much...anyway i am planning to give it for a service this weekend and check ..

Happened to brothers Xing XG after it came back too.
Some noise coming from the engine when he starts it and drives for first 2 min and then stops.
I am guessing it is the fan belt.
