Feel free to use the default Ford oil and change within 8k km as well, that should work fine.
I'm pretty interested in Idemitsu, not for the oil but for the metal can. Nostalgic packaging. How is the oil performance if I may ask hserus ?

First they told me it was Japanese in origin, but then it was clarified that it's owned by Rooskies with Japanese brand name. Is this true too ?

You have confused Mitasu (the fake Japanese one run by Russians in Northern China and Singapore) with Idemitsu.

Idemitsu is not just Japanese, it is the OEM oil vendor for Honda and Toyota. And it comes in regular plastic cans.

I stand corrected. Thank you hserus.

So Idemitsu is pure Japanese then ? Even the ones sold in India ?

Manufactured in India by their Indian subsidiary and not imported but basically the same oil.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Planning to use Amsoil on Endeavour 3,2. Should I go for below options or FORD has some special requirements?

And, what's the difference in these 2 listings? Both appear to be similar (one is mentioned as Max-Duty with 6X wear protection and the other with 75 % more wear protection)

https://www.amazon.in/Signature-Synt...gateway&sr=8-8

https://www.amazon.in/AMSOIL-Signatu...y&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Re: All about diesel engine oils

The first (Signature Series Max Duty Diesel Oil) is a dedicated diesel engine oil - will be superb for heavy diesels like trucks. Also quite usable in Scorpio, Safari etc (and older Hyundai diesels of any sort that specify the sort of mineral diesel engine oil that comes in huge buckets). Look at the specs for Caterpillar, Cummins, Volvo, Mack etc. Latest API CK4 spec and ACEA E series spec for "Extended Drain Interval", this will run 40k miles in large trucks and buses.

Quote:
API CK-4/SN, CJ-4, CI-4+, CF; ACEA E9, E7, ACEA E6; JASO DH-2; MB 228.51, MB 228.31; Cummins CES20086, CES20081; Caterpillar ECF-2, ECF-3, ECF-1-a; Chrysler MS 10902; Renault RLD-4, RLD-3; Volvo VDS4.5, VDS4, VDS3; Mack EOS-4.5, EO-O; DFS 93K222; MTU Type 2.1, II, I; MTU Type 3.1; Deutz DQC IV-10LA; DDC 93K218, 93K215, 93K214.
The second is a 5w30 ACEA A5/B5 suitable for "petrol and light duty diesels". Ford recommends A5/B5 if its own spec of oil (5w30 WSS-M2C-913C/D) isn't available. Ford recommends this WSS 913 spec for everything from the Figo to the Endy by the way.

Most Endy drivers cheerfully ignore that spec above and their 3.2 happily thrives on Rimula R4 type mineral diesel engine oils. So I am quite sure that if you use a 5w30 diesel specific oil like the first one (CK4 Signature Series, or indeed the slightly lesser grades CK4 Max Duty or CK4 Turbo Truck which are in 5w40) you should have no particular issues especially in a hot climate like India where heavier weight oils are not as big an issue as in cold climates. You might not want to take it to Ladakh with a 15w40 mineral engine oil though.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Hi, I need to go for an oil change for my 2013 Toyota fortuner diesel which has completed 1 lakh KM's. Currently on synthetic oil filled by Toyota service centre. Should I opt for AMSOIl 5w-40 available in Amazon. Any better alternatives. Pls suggest.

The Fortuner needs a 5w30 oil so get the 5w30 Diesel engine oil from Amsoil.

Quite expensive though AMSOIL 5W-30 Signature Series Max Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil Protection for 3X OEM Recommended Drain Interval https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07NPCJ587/..._Hn3DDb7T9RQP9

Thanks hserus for the prompt reply. Toyota has been filling up 5w40 synthetic oil for my fortuner. In that case won't AMSOIl turbo truck be more suitable?

Shouldn't make much of a difference. Go ahead.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Hi all! I’m planning to change my Livas oil. Any great alternatives to Amsoil Signature Series Which I’m currently using? Grade is 5w30. Been a great 7 odd months & it’s probably been one of the most stressful times driving in Mumbai, more so with these rains. Time for fresh fluid. I wish to stick to the grade specified. LiquiMoly, Shell are brands im looking at. No Mobil, Idemitsu please. Eager to hear. Cheers!

Amsoil has a 5w30 diesel oil in CK4 rather than a5/b5 that you might try.

The Signature is all they have. Checked with the distributors. Then they have the 5w40 Max & Heavy Duty.
