Hey fellow BHPians!

I am having this weird issue with the clutch pedal of my Esteem MPFI. When I have depressed the pedal halfway through, there's this clink sound that comes at a certain point and also I feel some heaviness in the pedal. But both go away on further pressing of the pedal.

I have not noticed/felt any issues with gear changing, RPM/Speed at different gears and the car gives absolutely no jerks while starting in 1st gear or after gear change.

So what could be the reason behind the sound and heaviness that is felt only at a particular point of pedal travel?

Possibly a bad cable or linkage.
I don't know what the Esteem uses, but it sounds like a problem with the operating gear.

A sticky pedal spring maybe....? Very common occurrence..

+1 to that. How old is your esteem?

1. Is this component critical enough to warrant a visit to M.A.S.S.?
2. Or could I get it checked by a decent garage mechanic?
3. Or could I just ignore it for now? Please provide an option from 1-3. :D

Incidentally I'd noticed this issue after ~1.5K Km running after the regular 20K service. Just due to sheer laziness didn't visit the A.S.S. stupid:

Just checked something online, is the pedal spring a part of the pressure plate? If so, I guess it becomes important to get it checked!!!

My car's 2 years old and has clocked ~24K Km. I'd checked the pedal play myself and it seems to conform to the specifications in the user manual.

+1, it keeps happening in my scorpio too, nothing to worry about.

I guess it's +1 from my side too. Worries set aside, will just live with it. Thanks a lot for your inputs. :thumbs up

Just one more thing, I hope this has no detrimental effect on the clutch cable or the pressure plate?

I guess I'll just ask a mechanic to apply some grease to remove the sookhapan. :D
