No response from engine after 4K RPM..Octavia vRS

Guys,
Off late my red beauty, octy vRS has stopped performing as it used to be :(

The problem i'm facing is with the engine once its above 4K rpm. Before that the pickup is as usual but once its about to reach 4K rpm the engine just runs out of breath. Even if i press pedal nothing happens and i cant feel any rise in speed or acceleration. It just refuses to go beyond this and engines also sounds muffled. I've to upshift in order to keep the car below 4K rpm so that i can gain speeds.
So earlier the scenario was:
1st gear-->60 kph, 2nd gear-->110, 3rd gear-->150 kph and so on...
&
Now the scenario is 1st gear-->40 kph(max), 2nd gear-->70kph(max), 3rd gear-->100kph(max), 4th gear-->120kph(max), 5th gear-->150 kph(max)...and this is it, after that i hit 4K rpm and i've to upshift.

Few pointers:
1. I generally take out the vRS on weekends, so it sits idle for 5-6 days before i take her out for a drive.
2. I was suspecting clogged air filter as a possible culprit, but since i've a K&N typhoon intake system so i'm wondering whether it can get clogged and if it is then how to get it cleaned??
3. I dint make any changes or any modifications to my car before i started facing this problem.
4. There's no engine checklight or any other malfunction indicator.
5. All the while engine temp gauge is always normal. No overheating.

Please help me out guys...this is really depressing me :(

i think it is in the limp mode.

is the CEL glowing? (EDIT: it is not glowing )

if not - reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 10mins. hope this helps.

IIRC, @shuvd had a similar issue which was traced to a defective coil.

@ shuvc - "dada" in shuvd's case the CEL was glowing which traced to the defective coil - yes he had the similar issue. IIRC he changed the entire coil pack. resetting the ECU did not help.

Apart from that I believe the turbo of the vRS spools somewhere around 4K rpm.

Check filter anyways, then the coil, throttle body and injection. Shouldnt be major since the notorious light hasnt lit up yet, but get it attended soon.

The CEL should light up if the turbo blows shouldn't it ?

Try resetting the ECU first by disconnecting battery connectors.
If this does not help then visit service centre and get airfilter and injectors cleaned (if necessary).

i think the airfilter is clogged. try cleaning that. i guess the easiest thing would be to go to skoda and have them connect a scanner.

I would suggest that you don't drive the car at all right now.Just take it to skoda and get it scanned.Also go through Ajmat's thread.maybe you'll fine some pointers there.Also PM him.as he's been through it all with his RS.

Also if possible get the Air filter arrangement changed back to stock.K&N's are not good filters.(This a statement made by various automobile experts after testing,Don't flame me for it).

Also go through Ajmat's RS problems thread so that you can do preventive maintenance on the car and not end up paying huge money for the repairs later.

I had a similar problem on my Opel Astra. It wouldn't go above 3500 rpm. No engine light.
Tracked it down to a chocked catalytic convertor had to change that and the muffler behind it as parts had broken and lodged in the muffler behind. After that can max rpm with no issues car is back to normal.

It must be the filter only.
Get the cleaning kit and clean it. Disconnect the battery and it will be like it should be - A Beast

Don't worry.
