Laura DSG Issues
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/56367-laura-dsg-issues.html)
Hey Fella's,
It's been a while since I posted here.
Since I last came on board, I got myself(what I thought was a) good second hand Laura done about 50K kms on the clock. Genuine mileage, had her scanned and all checked out A OK.
Here's the problem though.
Of late, whenever I engage any gear, there's an ever so soft *CLUNK* sound coming from the left side. I've been told it's the drive shaft. Any other laura owners have the same problem?
Let me describe it to you the best way I can.
This happens when I shift from P to R, R to N, N to D and D to S.. basically right through the gears.
Also, when I'm at a traffic light and the car's stationary, I let go the brake to start moving forward, and there's the clunking sound again.
I know that there are Skoda issues going on here, and I would appreciate it if this thread doesn't get taken down with them.
I'm perplexed with the sound and would like your feedback.
Thanks in advance.
HI,
Its definitely not a drive shaft issue. More likely a loose/worn out engine/gearbox mounting or something worn out in the suspension.
Viper
Is there enough fluid inside the gear box?
Automatic, does it happen only when the car is cold? Or even after she has warmed up?
Hi,
Thank you all for the replies.
I've sorted out the issue by giving the car back to the dealer telling him it was a lemon.
Lucky for me I have a good rapport with the guy and after telling him all the things that you guys have told me here, he took the car back. The car was with me for less than a week.
Thanks again.

Skoda dealer? Or a multibrand outlet?? I will be extremely surprised if a skoda dealer took the car back!
^its a used car.
He must be referring to agent/used car dealer.

Lucky you! I didn't post this yesterday (was going to after receiving an answer to my question), but a CLUNK in a DSG is almost certainly bad news.
You didn't lose any money on the car?
Yes. Used car.
GTO, didn't lose any money as I knew the dealer well and I could turn the screws on him to take back the car.
