I like shifting to 2nd gear from 1st which pulls my car way ahead of the traffic during signal start!

You guys reverse your cars at high speeds?
How do you folks manage to do that? Please explain!

Reminds me of some old joke, where one had to drive back in reverse after reaching the destination..
'There are 4/5 gears for front.. but there's only only one for reverse!'

I have a short ratio gearbox in my MPFi Esteem. I like to take her to 6k RPM in 2nd and then shift to 3rd and keep the revs going all the way up to 7500 RPM. Wow, no words to describe the adrenalin rush - absolute nirvana + more.

Needless to say, I do not like shifting to 4th or 5th but force myself to do so for Fuel Economy.

I must confess that even I like reversing the car in relatively high speeds. It can be quite challenging keeping the car pointed in the right direction while reversing at high speeds. I get a high doing this.

Note: Please DO NOT try this on public roads as this can be very dangerous to you as well as others. The visibility is very poor and in a panic situation, one will make mistakes as it is not as simple as driving forwards.

If you like it in the swift, try it out in a Verna Crdi!
Believe me, the thrust you get in the Verna is mind-blowing!

+1 to that! getting a high depends on various factors! Anyways, I love the the Verna with all four disks, ABS, etc! (apart from the fact that I test drove one owned by suren181! and I love it except for the butt!!!)

Third gear, the best one to experience the power band. 1 and 2 are too short on any vehicle.

Esp, 3rd gear on the RX100 is like riding the wild stallion. slot into 3rd at 40kmh and ride it all the way to redline at 70kmh.

4th is too long on any vehicle i have ridden/driven.

I have had a palio 1.9 d and third is the gear i have always loved no pressure on the engine and it pulls amzingly.
Wagonar I would say i like to drive that in 2nd gear because of the small engine.
Accent which i have recently bought, could be driven in any gear and i dont feel any lack of response or performance.

While driving the Getz, more than the gear its the RPM which makes more difference to me.

1500 RPM - Cruises and ready to kick in.
2000 RPM - Hell breaks loose.
3500 RPM - Roaring and violent as it can get.

3rd.

* A versatile gear in almost any car.
* Most often used gear in city.
* Good on the highways when you want to overtake.
* Used very often when driving in the hills ..
