Ouch! Will the society for prevention of cruelty to Cars please wake up!

If you must do this - atleast replace the oil pump with a grease gun first

Ah! Reminds me of the last time I took my Verna for a service at Spring Hyundai, Kolkata.

There was another Verna CRDI which had come in for repairs. The owner just drove the car out of the showroom and kept on driving, without bothering about service.

At 60000 kms (wow!) some engine part melted and the owner detected strange smelling fumes. It turned out that the engine was severely damage. Also, engine oil was getting punched into the coolant.

Now the car is in for repairs. Hyundai has obviously denied any warranty. The estimated bill is in the region of a lakh rupees.

Felt like strangling the owner if I ever met him. Seriously wish there was a SPCC in India.

People who don't change Engine Oils at recommended Mileage, might need to Change Engine in the long run :-)

Long ago I saw an Amby which had never had ao oil change. The owner just kept topping up the oil. After about 40,000km the engine gave up, and I must say I nearly had a fit when I saw the contents of the sump. It was a thick viscous goo!

for how many kms does the oil stay in sump,if its never topped up?
i think even in cars in perfect condition, the oil level should drop a bit after a few thousand kms owing to wear and tear

There's a similar thing on a Swift diesel that happened in Delhi for a similar interval - at Apra.

I know of someone who did something similar. He thought the only oil a car needed was the petrol in the fuel tank. He got a bit worried when the car started throwing out white smoke.

Saw, and wondered at, the original link.

Whilst it stands to reason that there is going to be more than one instance of this, it still surprises me that several have been reported here already.

Maybe it is a tribute to an engine that it can go 40,000kn without an oil change!

Sigh... I feel bad when I see an abused car (and there's no shortage of them in Delhi).

So bad that it looks like the insides have a thick layer of chocolate! Inexcusable, there ought to be a law against such abuse.

relax guys, it's just a machine - there can be no cruelty to a machine.
Of course, can't be good for the environment to have these cars running around, for that alone penalise the owner.

Blasphemy! On T-BHP!

There can certainly be love for machines, and gut-wrenches when they're damaged!

IIRC, our very own 'Abominable Snowman' might have a story to share on this topic.
