ABS motors doesnt have a fuel pump in stock and since it is not a fast moving item they dont usually keep it. Now they are telling me that if they suspect its the fuel pump then they will order one for me but I will have to pay for it :(

The fuel pump alone is 11k's. Can I source the fuel pump from any outside spares shop in Delhi?
Hi there !

You may try and visit newly opened RAMA motors ( TATA/FIAT ) in Okhla, they have hired the best NCR mechanic for the Palios.

PM me if you want any further details on RAMA.

For a spare shop in Delhi, you can try Mahajan, they are in Lajpat Nagar-1.

Cheers.

E_T -- when the car is running bad, stop and check the gas cap -- unscrew it do you hear the sound of air rushing in?

What is the top speed you guys are getting in the highways with and without AC.
For me
without AC plain road- 120-130 kmph max
with AC - 90-100 kmph max
with AC on it difficult for me to overtake a M800 .

I tested the car on Hunsur-kushalnagar road while on the way to coorg. Once while climbing down the car did a 140 kmph with AC..
The average FE i got was 15+ (10% AC ) while going and 12+ while returning (90-100% AC).

Are my stats matching with other Palio 1.2 ELX owners? Mine is a 2003 model.
Is it a time for me to contact hariprasad enterprises guys?

Even I am able to go only upto 120 kmph with A/C and that I think is pretty low coz I have touched 145 kmph with relative ease before.

I tried to do (emulate!) your conditions over the last month - had the chance when we travelled form Pune to Shirdi with six on board - four adults (approx 65 - 70 kgs each) and two kids (about 40 -45 kgs) - two at front, two adults + two kids at the rear. My observations on acceleration :-
a. In the ghat section (not much of a ghat between Pune & Ahmednagar) vehicle could not climb in 5th even with AC off - had to down shift to 4th and at times 3rd for it to pull cleanly. But cruising on 5th at 120+ was smooth;
b. Even when I tried to go up carrying initial speeds of 80 - 100, the going got appreciably slower nearer the top - had to switch off the AC and come down to 4th;
c. Tank was almost full while going and half-full while returning - did not notice any appreciable difference;
So over 400 kms the behaviour was - can't accelerate up slopes on 5th with pay load of about 500 kgs. (Try to do 'hyper-miling' on highways - tires are inflated at 32psi - 2psi more than normal).

But - surpise - now driving in the city after the trip can't climb flyovers on the 5th with AC on! Without AC there is not much fuss.

Planning to go for service in a couple of weeks - will keep you posted on the feedback after discussing the issue with the service centre guys.

I am yet to give Rama motors visit due to time contraints but will do so at the earliest oppurtunity... I am starting to belive that it could be an issue with the fuel pump working.

Is this a widespread issue with the Palio? If it is then we can collectively write an email to Fiat and get our cars properly diagnosed. Can other Palio 1.2 owners confirm?

@planet.... I did from PUG and did what they suggested... checked the HT Coils, got the injectors cleaned, checked the ECU for any error codes, cleaned the throttle body but the issue persists. :(
