Hi All, I have an Opel Astra 1.6 with 16NZR Engine 1997 model. I had given my car to Metro Motors, a GM dealer at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi for my cars clutch overhaul for which I paid a fat amount of Rs.20000!

My primary reason of giving such an old car to a GM dealer was due to the fact that I had got the clutch serviced from a local mechanic who didnt do the job well. I was experiencing juttering (meaning vibrations and dhak dhak sound while releasing the clutch) which the mechanic couldnt rectify despite his best efforts! Spent approx.5000 which went into the drain.

Metro Motors, the GM dealer changed all parts including the Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate, Release Bearing and even the flywheel assuring me that the clutch would be like "Makkhan" to operate! The juttering still continued post delivery and I sent the car back to them four times for rectification in the last 6 months since it was serviced by them. However, the problem still continues with the pickup drastically slowing down. The dealer is just not bothered and says everything is all right despite the car doing the famous Madhuri Dixit Dhak dhak number!

Fedup, I went to Pandit & Co, a local restorer of car's and a reputed automotive garage. Mr. Pandit informed me that the clutch requires replacement and has completely worn out (In just 1500kms of driving). In course of our discussion, I pointed out that there was some unusual sound coming from the front left suspension as if the tie-rod end was worn out. He was quick enough to point out that it was the handiwork of Metro Motors who did the clutch overhaul (Apparently, the suspension including the shaft has to be opened to access the clutch) and in the process has damaged the left suspension (Right wheel suspension operates without any fault).

Since, I have spent a substantial amount, I wish to take this dealer to task. I have already sent a few mailers to GM India without any response. metro is the worst GM dealer I have come across! I had earlier serviced my car at National Garage,Mahalaxmi temple, Mumbai who had done their job well. However, GM probably has appointed shady dealers in Delhi including British Motors at Connaught place who were crooks and with the same quality of workmanship as that of Metro!

Please suggest how do I proceed and probably guide me to someone in GM India who can help me out.

I guess, I have posted this in the right thread. Else kindly move it to the correct section please.
