and adding that to the fuel- roughly 2Rs/km- takes it to a grand total of 2.50Rs per kilometer. not bad eh?

The spreadsheet, I got off team bhp. I dont remember the author, but it is very useful, and encourages me to drive decently once in a while.

I have spent close to 10k in servicing my VDI which has run for 25k now. Please note that this includes expenses of about 3k which are over and above than what is recommended. Oil and Filter change at 5k, 15k,25k kms)

After the 3rd service @ 10K the service interval is 10K. i.e. 4th is at 20K, 5th is at 30K, 6th is at 40K and so on.

What kind of engine problems are you talking about ? I know someone who has clocked over 90k kms on his Swift D and he has not had any "problem" so far really, other than regular maintenance parts. Can you throw some more light on exactly what you have heard?

Who is this person who has done such a feat. He/She should put up long term ownership on Swift D. It will be an interesting read.

My guess is a guy called Mandeep in mumbai. Read about it in the orkut community on swift diesel.

I asked him, but don't think he is interested in becoming a member here. He thinks the community is full of idiots most of who don't know their stuff.

Guys, My VDI has done 17K kms in 8 months and I can see black smoke from the exhaust at least 2wice a week it is so bad that I can't see the road behind me. My thrid service is over and the next is due in 20K kms. I had personallu cleaned my air filter at 15K kms.
Has any body faced a similar problem with the VDI, and what was doen to rectify the same.

Do you use normal diesel or premium one ? Smoking is reported with the usage of the former.
