Audio system/roof light/door warning-Gone kaput together.

Hello guys,

This is quite a weird scenario, I turned the roof light switch on, the light came on and the switch broke there was no way to turn it off so I decided to pull out the bulb out of the socket so that it shouldn't hinder my night driving and all of a sudden my head unit refused to turn on and when i press the lock button on the key less entry remote, the siren beeps for some time and locks, this tells me a door might be open,
There's no door ajar warning light on the instrument cluster , I checked all 5 doors + the hood door. All door seems to be properly shut, All electrical stuff are working fine. Could it be a blown fuse? Should i check for anything before taking it to the service station? Please help,

P.S- I own a Santro xing.

sounds like it. is there some way you can open up the fuse box and examine it yourself ?
There are Two Fuse Boxes in the vehicle
- Engine compartment Fuse Box (ECFB)
- Passenger Compartment fuse Box (PCFB)
The latter should what you need to check. it should be under the front right speaker grill. If the fuse blows again, you might have shorted something in the electricals , and have to get it checked by the service center

Try fixing the bulb back in the roof light. If it does not work then it should definitely be a blown fuse.

It must be a blown fuse. But i am hearing of such an incident for the first time. Take it to the service center. Should not be a major problem. Do keep us updated. I m curious.

Funny!, Sounds like a short circut while taking the bulb out, fine the audio system doesn't work, BUT the central locking is reacting exactly opposite! It reacts this way when the 'roof light' is on due to door open.

That would mean the central locking is reading the light as ON. Well, could be a fuse, or/and could be some kind of persistent circuit due to the broken switch.

The roof light switch is so delicate that it breaks twice in a month , This is the first time its happening though :(

Definitely a case of your fuse getting blown. I managed to blow the fuse in my car during my DIY experiments with LEDs and the cabin light, backlit lighting for power window controls etc stopped working. Replaced the fuse, and the world was back to normal.

Spare Fuses are usually in the LID of the FUSE BOX, Or you can see it your fuse Box Label Displays Icons for Spare fuse along the ones which are used.

I'm keeping a keen eye to see what the outcome is. I've never faced such a problem in my Xing, even though I've removed the bulb when it was switched on.
