It's something to do with the clutch depression and some minor adjustments there. I had the same issue with my reverse gear, this is what the service advisor told me when I had reported this problem

Anachronix---I've never had the click sound while changing gears. As regards system G, i get it from Ford Service Centre---it used to cost Rs 250, but now costs Rs 299 for the past 2 months or so.

It's not a simple click sound, it's sounds like grinding the gears.

Take a look at the manual and there are a few guidelines given on what to do when the car refuses to start on the first crank.

There is one more issue in my car which I want to be clarified here, when I am revving my engine high and shifting gears I hear a 'creak' noise when I slot into 4th Gear. Any thoughts on this, BHPians?
hahah. arun. sure thing. will have it checked by the A.S.Ses at the A.s.S.
I will refer to the manual. It's exhaustive and a fun read, but I haven't gotten it up.

What's a GEM module? Did you have the same problem too???
Is this a factory defect in all Fiestas?

And about the grind, I get it sometimes, but in all cars I drive, since i do a lot of half-clutching

I dont think so, i had experienced this may be once. Only after going through arun's thread i came to know the ECU was the culprit. The GEM module was replaced because I had an issue of the remote boot release not working at times. The GEM module is what controls all the electronics in the car. I also came to know that starting trouble is a known problem from the service advisor. After they had replaced the GEM, the ECU was also reset. I've not had any problem since.

P.S - Frank if you plan to claim anything on warranty in the electrical stuff get it done before you get any ICE inside the car. Hope you already know about ford's stringent warranty norms. Even if your horns are changed they could reject your claim easily.

So, were you remapped from an 'S' map to a 'zxi' map?

Sorry i seem to have missed your reply.

Basically i was leaning towards a clogged fuel filter or even a problem with the car's fuel pump.

Does this sound happen when you shift the gears? or when you press/release the clutch ?

I somehow doubt they have remapped the ecu. More like just reset it - would be my guess.
