Team-BHP - Help on Shifting from DIN50 to DIN55 and Which Brand?

My FIAT Adventure has been loosing some battery power these days. I've got a few occations when the car did not start at first try. The starter motor just spins and gets stuck. Yesterday i realised that this happens when the radiator fan is running while i try to crank. The car starts once the fan goes off. I am suspecting a Battery change soon.

As Usual the DIN50 battery that comes as OEM fitting is not available in my town. These are the quotes i got for DIN55 from Amaron and Bosh.

Amaron - Rs.5600/- with 2+2yr warranty

Bosch - Rs.6500/- with 2 yr warranty

(Both prices are prior to discounts and buy back of old battery.)

Now the big questions.(Sorry for the long list of questions)

1. Any ideas on if it would be the battery or the starter motor that has a problem?

2. Which Brand should i go for? Which is better in terms of performance and life?

3. What are the final prices i can expect/bargain for after discounts and buy back of old battery.

4. What are the pros and cons of shifting from DIN50(OEM) to DIN55?

The difference between the 2 is that DIN 50 is a 50Ah battery and the other is of 55Ah. Just check if the DIN 55 battery fits into the battery space available in the car. Nothing else will be a problem.

As far as the brands are concerned, both are equivally good. Rather than the brand name, its lfe depends on how you care for it. Seeing from the choices available I would go for the Amaron - since its "Made in India".

See if you are able to start the car it means that battery is fine may be some issue with the starter motor since it is not meant to rotate freely.If you are hearing a whining sound from the starter motor than for sure it is the starter motor that is faulty.(there is a type of relay which lets the motor get engaged with the engine the problem seems to be of that).
Also to check battery you can ask an electrician to check the specific gravity of the battery electrolyte.
