Esteem fuel pump(mpfi) in esteem-carb tank

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if the fuel pump from the MPFi esteem would fit into the esteem carb's tank ? I need to do this for some evil task

but I don't have the funds to buy a new tank.

I asked my friendly neighborhood mechanic - but he says it might not fit as it is - but I looked at the pumps in the parts catalog - they seems similar ! So now I'm really confused !

But also I've heard some folks have managed to fit the mpfi pump in the esteem carb tank - any inputs on whether or not it was a straight fit.
