Diesel tuning box

Hello all

Ive been contemplating this for a while now. Wanted to get a power box for my Ikon TDCi and my initial thought was to got for Petes. But apparently, it costs 42k for the Fiesta/Ikon TDCi which I think is far too much.

So my search for alternatives began. There are atleast 50 (maybe 100) manufacturers of diesel powerboxes for CRDI engines. They are all mostly based in Germany. The price varies from 100EUR to 600EUR.

Here is an example, this one costs 90GBP and comes will all the connectors and I enquired with the seller that it fis made for the Siemen's ECU which comes in the Ikon/Fiesta. This guy has powerboxes for almost all CRDI cars.

Digitale-ASA-CR-Tuningbox-Ford-Fiesta-1-4-TDCi

He has a 99.9% positive feedback and has sold more than 5000 of these. I messaged a few of the ebay users who purchased from him in the past and they all seem happy.

Now the question is do you think this makes more sense if we have someone to get is down from Europe? Since is costs around 9k Rs compared to the 42k charged here?

There are soooo many alternatives to the PSI box, anyone tried them? Any reviews/advice?

Just search for "Diesel tuning box" and your engine name to get some leads. Or search ebay (uk/germany).

Though it is very CHEAP, I would not take a risk like that. What if you do not get to notice any difference ?

Make sure it is Reliable before going for it. Playing with ECU is risky!!

Petes is reliable based on the feedback on the forum. There were positive reviews on some other tuning boxes.

What about product warranty and installation support?

Are you sure the ECU is exactly the same in Europe and India ?
Honda cars for example use different ECU's for the same car in different parts of the world. Why not have a look at RD's diesel ECU. From what i heard you can use it in another diesel car later on too.
I think it is cheaper than pete's too.

i bought a racechip box for my innova diesel. installation was a breeze! sideways ctually installed it for me.

awesome difference in torque and top speed as well.

the box has around 10 settings to choose from. they tell you to go up or down 1 turn at a time, so that you can see the difference and check for any warning lights.

works superbly!

the boxes can be changed from one car to the other. you just need to buy the right connector.

You could look at RD's diesel ECU. Its supposed to be generic to all diesels.

I had a quick look at the Pete's website. I dont see Palio D there! Do you guys think its worth adding a tuning chip to this 1.9 naturally aspirated engine!! If so, what options do I have?

btw what is torque measured in on that site? if its nm then the tuning box is not for the d4d engine sold in india. it has only 200nm of torque compared to the 260 written on that site. there is another version of the d4d which makes 260 nm of torque, it is sold with an autobox in other countries.
