Palio 1.6 ac compressor gone kaput

Hi guys,

My friends palio 1.6 has done about 85K kms. it is 8 years old.

Recently there was a fall in cooling capacity. got it checked by dealership and other roadside mechanics. The verdict was same-- replace the compressor.

The oem is worth appriximately 24k, which is not available at CHANDIGARH.

can you please share your inputs.

We have got the ac gas / pressure checked. the blower is also good.

Also, can the compressor be replaced with any other brand (Sanden). to best of my knowledge palio 1.6 is supplied with Denso kit.

wouldn't it be better if he gets a new OE compressor source through the FIAT a.s.s. from Mumbai / Pune / Delhi? or can he source an used compressor from a local market?

Yes, the 1.6 normally comes with a Denso compressor.

I have heard another owner of a 1.6 mention that he fitted a Sanden in his car. He did mention that the Sanden's mounting are different from the OE mountings and, he had to have the mountings etc. for the Sanden fabricated.

It might therefore be better to take Planet Rocker's advice and place an order for an OE piece via Fiat A.S.C.

Cheers,
