Honda City 1.5 Gxi Ignition lock issue

Hey all. I own a December 2003, Honda City 1.5 Gxi. I'm having trouble with the ignition lock. The key refuses to go in smoothly, and so I can't start the car! Had this issue once before but had it sorted out at a reputed workshop (Non-Honda), lock was not changed but only repaired. Can anyone shed light on the costs that may be involved and what parts may need replacing? Could this be a case of the key wearing out? The car is 5 years & 7 months old and has done about 70,100km's. Could a local mechanic atleast make the car run, so I can drive it to the workshop? Thank you. Cheers
Akshay.

Does it has an immobilizer ?
if yes, you need to go to Honda After Sales Service Center and get the key replaced.

No,the car doesn't have an immobilizer. It is currently stranded on the road. Have sent driver & mechanic to try and fetch it. Steering is also locked. May have to get it towed.
