Check the speedo sensor and replace it. Is the odometer also simultaneously working erratically - recording too fast, too slow or not at all?

I think the odo is behaving as per the behaviour of the speedo. It does not move when ever i see the speedo lying at zero while the car is moving at higher speeds.

Worn out teeth of the speedometer cable is what is causing this. Replacement is the only way to go.

Hi Gemi,

The Palio has a speedo sensor maybe thats what is the problem, or might be the circuit of the speedo meter

is the odometer movement relative to the speedometer or even the speedo sensor? never thought it would be like that.

Thats why I've bolded 'Replace'. There's always a 1% chance of something else malfunctioning.
