Seat belt warning indication

I love the feature of seat belt warning in Swift. It could not escape from the eyes of the person on the wheels. Who ever took the wheels have enquired what that "red light" indication was. On explanation, they put the seat belt in place. One guy said that he never used to wear seat belt, but belted as he was not comfortable with that light glowing.

Small but great feature.

Absolutely !
Even better is the audio warning.....it gets damn annoying and hence may force people to belt up....What we really should have is an immobiliser type thing...car wont start until you are belted up

In all the cars i've had, I've cut off the wires that go from the seat-belt mechanism to the dash.

I hate those annoying beeps.

Since I use the belts anyways, i didn't see the point in the beeps starting as soon as you start the car. I like starting, let the oil start flowing as i put on the belts, start music, and then push off.

Maybe if it beeps 30 seconds after starting the car, it would be better.

I remember this being the case with the Ford Focus I drove in US....... The co-passenger didn't wear her seatbelt and the car started beeping after we had started. btw for light lovers.... this car's console was a bloody christmas tree!

Great feature, and its good to see that it'll make you wear seatbelts!! I guess there should be a sticker on the steering or dashboard, just like how bikes have, indicating that seatbelt must be worn.

Just a thought. You could be dead in 30 seconds.

haha. I could, if that tree I'm very suspicious of, falls on me.

The point is, I feel there has to b a time limit between starting, and beeping.

People will say put the belt on and start.

But there are so many situations, where you want either the AC or the heater to come on before you drive off.

Or it could beep once you put the car in gear.

I think most cars that have the audio warning, it lasts for about 30 seconds from time you start the car. That's more than sufficient.

If someone wants to get around the beep, he'll find a way.

i love it when my sister is driving accord & refuses to put seat belt (i have explained dangers to her about billion times but she won't listen) & later on gets annoyed by beeps & later decides to wear a seatbelt
Joy of that = priceless
for everything else there's mastercard

p.s.: one of the honda mechanic told me that unless you were seatbelt Air bags won't work is that true?

I don't think so, though I do not have know the details how it works.

Already committed a mistake by not wearing seat belts & the manufacturing design put the user into further trouble by not saving him from the collision - No way

but if you aren't using seat belt & in collision get thrown near dashboard & suddenly air bag pops up (talking about a situation where evey milisecond counts)
now won't that cause more problem ??

also that might be another reason why air bags are called as SRS

@kooldude:
its a Black color 2.4L iVTEC Manual Gearbox (actually its not mien its our family car)

will post a review sometime soon

I agree that not wearing the seat belt will worsen the problem.

I feel that there will not be any relation between wearing seat belts and airbag popping up during crashes

Actually that is not true. Airbags are a supplementary restraint system that is meant to complement seatbelts. Especially in low speed collisions, the deployment of the airbag when the person is not wearing a seatbelt can cause more injuries. See this link and also this one.

Also airbags are designed for full size people and children under 12 years in the front seat - belted or not - can be injured by the airbag as it deploys.

thats a very good feature to educate us Indians to start using the seat belts.

Every car sold in India should have a light or a beeping system will a remind a lot of us to use them!
