Hi Guys, I Have A 99 Tata Safari, I Knw It Is Turocharged, But I Do Not Knw If Its A Intercooler.

How Much Difference It Makes Between N Intercooler N A Non Intercooler? What Is The Difference??

If Mine Is Not An Intercooler Can I Convert Into It??

All Tata Safari's from the day of its Launch had Intercooler. The intercooler help the Turbo breathe Cold air whcih is more dense and inturn increases the power output by burning the fuel far better than a Non Intercooled engine.

TATA's are known for extracting maximum power out of their engine's.

Cold Air is more dense than hot air ..

Turbochargers are a type of forced induction system. They compress the air flowing into the engine.The advantage of compressing the air is that it lets the engine squeeze more air into a cylinder, and more air means that more fuel can be added. Therefore, you get more power .

and as SUV said the intercooler gets in cold air which helps in more fuel being burnt therefore more power.

but can a turbo charged car not have an intercooler i thought they were interrelated and all turbocharged cars have to have an intercooler. stupid:

You can run a car without an intercooler however most of them do come with intercoolers. Intercoolers come in 2 main types air to air and water to air.

Water, Methanol, NoS injection is another method of reducing charge temparature.

Another weird thing the need for an intercooler also depends on where the turbo is mounted. Typically turbo's mounted on manifold's have the highest charge temp's whereas remote mounted systems typically have a lower charge temp.

The early Tata Indigos were turbo'ed but without an intercooler

there can definately be turbo's without intercoolers like my jeep's isuzu engine is turocharged but it doesnt have an intercooler although the ones with intercoolers are more effective

thanx guys, now 1 thing is for sure that there can be a turbocharger without intercooler.

so i doubt the early 99 safari had an intercooler.

if anybody knows for sure, pls tell
