Matiz - Check light goes on while running

1. While running at speed more than 70 km/hr or after switching on the AC
the check light of the car goes on and engine becomes rough. Once I switch of the engine, the check light goes off and it is back to normal. In some cases the light goes off itself without switching of the engine. I checked the same with my local mechanic and there is no solution.

The car is a 2000 Matiz, last January replaced, engine gasket, all coolant hoses and the distributor. I don't find any starting problems or problems while running at low speeds.

2. Also I am searching for a good Matiz mechanic / garage in Chennai.

Please help me.

I have had similar problems in my Matiz (1999). Had to change ECU, also changed teh wire harness.

In your case, check the connectors in your fuse box. Check all fuses and relays in the fuse box, cleaning the ends too. Interchange relays, especially the Hi-Speed and Lo-Speed fan relays. Have the error code diagnosis done.

Might be one of the sensors not behaving properly, get them checked at the workshop , most probably the air sensor is faulty.

Thankyou hvkumar & SCH for the suggestions. I will try to change the relay.

But is there any way of checking the ECU error codes registered (other than using the scanning equipment)? Is there any reference tables available for these codes? One time I have seen a service fellow connecting a jumper in an interface under the glove box and counting the blinking of check lights and finding the error.

If any of you know this procedure, kindly help me.

Yes there are two processes, the first one is to attach a scanning equipment to the engine, the crude way is to tap the wires under the glove box and count the number of beeps and relate it to the code book (were available at Daewoo Service centers). In My 1999 Matiz which i sold last year, in the car workshop at Gurgaon the mechanis attached these two wires and through the code found out that the air sensor had gone faulty, the check sign used to come sometimes and would go off on its own sometimes. I got the air sensor changed and did not face any problems after that.

Get it cheked though preference should be buy a scanning equipment.

While test driving my brand new Alto immediately after it returned from RTO, I noticed that this light remained on. The sales guy accompanying me said this can happen if a battery terminal is loose. As soon as we reached the show room, he brought a spanner and tightened the terminals and the light went off immediately.

Thankyou SCH and Gansan. I am going to scan the car by this weekend. I found a place in Chennai. The scanning equipment is generic so that any cars can be scanned with necessary settings. Once finished, I will update the details.

For reference of other Matiz owners, here I am listing down all the Diagonostic Trouble Codes (DTC) , which might be useful while doing a car scan.

Thank you vdiatech and toll gate

Gone to Ignite yesterday, met Raghav. He is a very nice person and the place is excellent. Unfortunately the adapter used for connecting ECU is different from what he is using. So he suggested to scan the error with a third party.

I found a place at Mandaveli to scan the car. The place is called "Scan a car" is a newly started establishment opposite to Mandaveli MRTS station. The details of the place is as follows

Scan A Car,
11/6, Sringeri Mutt Road,
Opposite to Mandaveli Railway Station
Mandaveli, Chennai

The concerned person is Govindarajan (+91 -98414 36436 ).

They uses a very professional tool for scanning which having the details of all the cars. He scanned the car and found the error code P0112 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor Low Voltage

He took out and cleaned two sensors - IAT Sensor & MAP Sensors. Also he found that one vaccum hose connecting to Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor was broken. They changed the hose.

After this I tested the vehicle at about 100 kmph and now I am not getting the error. I hope the problem got solved.

Hi tollgate,

While I gone there "Scan a Car", they were working with a Logan (which got damaged in an accident). At that time he was telling me that Logan parts are quiet expensive, but somehow he managed to get the spares. I think he may know some sources.

Also, try with this fellow. I am not sure about Logan, but they source items from other cities for many cars, even in low quantities.
