As far as i have seen most of my friends HIDs installation done needed a battery replacement. Its time to change the brand i guess, we were using vision+ which had 3yrs warranty.

I guess Vision+ HIDs sold in Hot Tracks bangalore is a china make or some fake.

My advise is to contact theMag and get the HIds installed to your car as its tested & proven.

HIDs are only 35W each as against 55W each for Halogens. They may need a little more juice to get the discharge going. Thus I will say that the battery should last as long if not longer with HID. The only catch can be if the associated electronics is of a poor quality and does some damage. Even here the component(s) will overheat and burn out pretty fast.

hi hellstar,

I have been using HID for my headlamps as well as fog lamps in total i have 4 HID's running, i drive a swift and the battery is company fitted and still its running fine without any issues ODO reads 40,000 plus.

These days i have heard that the HID kits available are really not the first quality one.

I've been using a HID kit on my baleno since september of 2007. My battery died once during the september of 2008 ( I can blame this on the fact that i always had to listen to music when I am in my car, even when the car wasnt running). I didnt have alot of problems with my HID kit either, except having to change my wiring kit once cause of careless servicing by the maruti guys. Apart from that its still working fine.

I have a bosch hid kit, with a temp of 6000k.

These are the 'facts' mentioned in my instruction manual

Electric consumption for a HID lamp is 35W and for a Halogen bulb is 55W

Luminance is 3200Lm for a HID lamp and 1000Lm for a Halogen bulb

Chroma is 4200-8000K for a HID lamp and that of a Halogen bulb is 2400-3600K

Lifespan of a HID lamp is 2500 hours and that of a Halogen bulb is 280 hours.

HID kit even if assumed to have unknown influence on battery cannot damage the battery alone. battery is in parallel to alternator and alternator will get damaged before battery. battery is capable of giving much higher current and has better insulation than alternator.
try to find find root cause

BTW Bosch does not manufacture HID, must be a fake Chinese, though even I had couple of pair in my Scorpio

Actually I sold it (Scorpio) to a close friend, who has installed another pair of HID and using them flawlessly. Only a replaced tube so far (from Sep, 2007).
