Hi,

I drive a Toyota Innova March 09 Model and recently noticed a slight jerk when i engage the 5th gear and release the clutch, i got it checked with RKT dealer (Sanathnagar) and nothing came out of that visit, i am concerned if i continue to ignore this i might burn out my clutch plates.
Is it a problem? or is it something that i can ignore for now. Advice neededplease:

what speed do you engage 5th gear at? dont say 60kmph, if its that you will get a jerk. shift to 5th at at least 75-80kmph.

Can you please explain why?

Doesn't the Innova (& Fortuner) gearshift anyways transmit a lot of drivetrain movement? I've noticed the gearshift lever move back and forth when the accelerator is pressed, or when starting the engine. Is this related to the problem you are facing?

I don't think you need to worry about clutch damage though.

innovas will jerk if you upshift too early, in all gears. as akshay said, upshift to 5th only after 70 kmph.

but if you dint face this issue in your new vehicle or if its only in 5th gear, then the problem lies somewhere else.

I engage the 5th gear at around 80-85kmph, and i am still facing the problem. And i go easy on the clutch release as well. Is it a problem with the vehicle? need to mention this i had the Battery replaced in the second month of purchase and my Back left suspensions replaced in the fifth month, could it be that i have a faulty vehicle??

I engage the 5th gear at around 80 - 85 kmph and i am still facing this issue. Also if someone could suggest at what speed to upshift all gears in the innova would really help, i drove a Hyundai Santro before and never really faced an issue with gear shift but since i upgraded to Innova i feel i am missing something when it comes to shifting gears.
