OPEL Sail starting problem

hai friends

I drive a OPEL Sail 1.6, two days back on a long drive thebattery charging alternator failed as noted in the dashboard, switched of the A/c & drove to reach the next nearest place. The voltage dropped after a while & all went blank -the car stopped after stalling.

The battery voltage was 10.5V guessed the fuel p/p must have dropped pressure, also the engine did not crank. Managed to geta new replacement & fitted it. But the engine fails to start. Checked the petrol supply Ok till the fuel manifold, cleaned & checked all spark plugs were good.

Any ideas on what might be wrong? Please inform any good service persons in Chennai other than the dealer. Also look forward for your suggestions.

Thank u all

Srinivasan,

Are you getting a crank on your engine when you try to start or is it absolutely silent (after the alternator). The car needs atleast 12.24V from the battery to start. How much voltage are you getting on your battery now? If the battery is down you should hear a click sound when you crank your engine.
