Need help on identifying KKK turbo from Tata Indigo

Hi Guys,

I am trying to figure out the specs for the turbocharger used on the Indigo - I managed to take a look at it - Its made by KKK and it has the following part number on the housing :

5435 101 4866

Does anyone have any idea on what are the specs of this turbo? Is it a K03 turbocharger ?

Thanks in Advance.

Amit

Okay guys found this out on my own - the turbo is a KKK KP35 turbo, the K03 turbochargers' numbers seem to start with 5X03 , and similarly the K04 is numbered starting with 5X04

The 1.4L TATA block uses KP35 , all the engines. In fact even the New 1.3L engines use the same turbo, all the companies, Suzuki,Fiat and Tata for the 75BHP version.

@Mpower, regarding the indica/indigo dicor engine - when i asked around i got to hear two views from different people - some said its a KP35 and others said its a Garrett GT1444V, since I haven't seen the dicor i cannot say for sure which one it is.

yes, TEL(turbo energy limted) is a part of TVS that makes turbos in collaboration with KKK/Borg-warner

The GT1444V is used on the Yaris diesel. I think that's a 1.4 as well.

Baires Turbo S.A.

apparently the IDI turbo uses the KKK KP35
The Dicor uses a Garret GT1241SZ, at least the 71 bhp version we all know

But what is this GT1444V 90 bhp engine ????

There is another "trim" of the dicor engine that does 90 bhp - not sure which version and whether it was sold in India

But a lot of people say putting it in an indica/indigo is not possible because the gearbox can't stand it

The indica engine tuning levels have been different based on where in the world they have been sold, e.g the 1.4 SOHC put out 85bhp in the UK, so I would guess the 90bhp Dicor would have been a tune level for SA, but I can't confirm.

IMO This is a K03 TC from TEL. AFAIK, The number you see is the RM part number.

I'm afraid TATA does not use KP35 TC in all engines, however a variation of KP35 is used in Tata, Suzuki and Fiat Engines.

One cant make the partnumber or model of a TC by just looking at the engine or TC from outside sir!

FYI, AFAIK, the TCs used in the IDI engines are K03/K04 family and the 1.3MJD used KP35 family.

By K03/04 turbos do you mean hybrids are used by Indian companies? That first for me.A k03/K04 turbos will be to big for a small capacity [read 1.2-1.4L] engine the lag will be huge.
I mentioned All TATA engines in 1.4L capacity. that includes IDI.
The 2.0L and above capacity used different turbos ranging from K03 to GT17 and GT17 VNT.And most of the indian companies [rather Indian models] with diesel engines used these or variation of these.including M&M,Chevrolet, etc.

@Dinar: - I am 100% sure about my source of information sir. As this is a public forum, i cannot disclose many details here.

You'd be surprised to note that there are many things common in Engineering

I do not get what exactly your saying, Common engineering in what?
KP35 is KP35 and K03 is K03. Different manufacturers use these same turbo on there engines.

Hi Dinar
I would trust Headers 99 times out of 100 when it comes to turbo charger model numbers.
