What do u do when the axle is gone

guys,

i ha dthe misfortune of hitting a stone on the highway at abt 120 kph once an dthen fliew over an unmarked speedbreaker at 80-90kph on the aurangabad highway.

and many such encounters have almost broken my left axle.so after showing it at Navnit ,I was told to replace it.

but as i have my extended warranty which expires in october,it will be replaced free of charge.
the only part that i have to pay for is the strut kit as i have decided to change them as well.

so what i want to know is ,shud i change the RHS axle as well.????i was tol d it s not necessary as the RHS axle is ok.

but wont the wear in both the axles be differnt.so will it affect my tires.???????

or shud i change the RHX as well???????

what other suspension component shoul dbe checked when u change the axle.????????

Make sure that you change both the axels at the same time as the wear and tear could affect the handling of the car.

Make sure that you check the lower arms for any damages and also see that they do not have any unnecessary play. If so please replace them.

The struts are not mandatory and should be changed when you find one of the following to be true:

1) Camber is way out
2) The front suspension is bouncy

Other than that it is up to you.

By axle, what exactly are you refering to? Is it front or rear suspension? Zen has a front independent suspension which has halfshafts, hub, knuckle. Rear is dead axle.

Its unlikely that the warranty will pay for the right axle though.

by axle i mean the black rod like thing along with the wheel bearing an dthe rubber boot.

about the warranty thing ,i have already spoken to them an dthey have assure dme that the entire set will be replaced under warranty.provided the rubber boot cover is not cut anywhere.and it isnt.

if the strut has been damaged ,then even that will be replaced under warranty.the only part that i have to pay for willb ethe rubber strut kit.

now does any one have any more doubts about maruti' s ASS?????

Gocha.....also known as a halfshaft. Usually the strut takes all the load when you hit a pothole.

boot change ?

Front left boot of the axle is torn, and needs replacement. Mandovi has quoted 180 for part and 281 replacement charges. They told me it's not required toc hange the other side. It's only the boot.

You folks think this is ok quote for a M800 5Speed ?

Sure. Replace the left boot. It is just a rubber covering & you dont have to change both. Yes, the labour involved is quite a bit, that is why the labour is more than cost of the part.
cheers
