Well at least the headache is over. BTW whats the diffeence between this and total damage? As in if a car is a total loss you still get the IDV na?

Yep. Total loss is where the insurance company claims the car and auctions it. they will pay you the IDV. Cash loss is a scenario where you yourself sell the car and claim insurance for the loss incurred by selling your car.

Somehow, the headache will still be there till we receive the complete amount from the insurance company

I had been completely busy for the last couple of days. Didn't get a chance to sell it off. I should hopefully sell it this weekend. The best quote I have received is for 40k. Is it an OK price?

Back again with a query. Please help

The guy is picking up the car this Sunday (finally). I had been really busy with other things.

I wanted to know what documents to sign before giving the car. I guess it is called a Form 29, correct me if I’m wrong. Any other particular documents/precautions I need to take?

If required I will also provide my Chassis number so that none of the BHPians/friends/family members end up with my car (quite possible, me thinks)

Tata Indigo TDI LX 2006 repairing and restoration - Is it worth the pains?

Hello People,

I have recently purchased a used 2006 Indigo TDI in Mumbai. It had very low mileage of 30k and was brought from a friend for under 50k. The car sat in his open garage for many years idle but he replaced the battery, 2 new tires. It still had a lot of underneath rusting. I started this car in Mumbai drove it to Goa crashed it at Rajapur ghat section turn due to wheels locking and skidding. The suspension, wheel hub, steering etc were damaged; however i could get it back. Later, I took it to Kolkata via Shirdi and Aurangabad and used it for long drives within WB in the same condition replacing the power steering pump, engine oil, etc. Last month due to a job transfer I drove it to BLR and have left it at a Dharmapuri acquaintance for repair/restore. I have been initially given a cost estimate of 17k including labor for the entire suspension, steering end replacement. Is this right? Brought a new wiring harness for the Indigo at 2k. My question being is it worth spending close to 50-70k on this car for restoration. I generally drive a lot on cities and highways throughout India.

Apologies in case of any grammatical errors and thank you in advance for your kind help.

Best
Dinesh
