Indica DLX AC not working at 100-110kmph

Hi All,
My Indica is a June 2007 DLX TC with 35K on odo.
Last weekend when I was driving back from my native HUBLI to BANGALORE i observed a strange thing with the HVAC system of my car.
After crossing Chitradurga switched ON the AC and when i found scope to maintain speed of around 100-110kmph for a 3-4km stretch with the AC ON suddenly the cooling effect got stopped and started getting normal airflow through the ducts. Realizing something is wrong switched OFF the AC. After sometime later near SIRA again switched it ON but this time was cruising around 60-80kmph, guess what the cooling effect was as original and reached home by maintaining constant 60-80 kmph speeds with the AC ON.
After that I drove around the city with AC ON fulltime and no issues whatsoever.
My question is has anyone experienced this kind of a problem with the HVAC system at driving in high speeds.

I think the high speed is a coincidence. The thermostat may be faulty. Its a common problem with the indica. The temp guage will show at half mark, but the thermostat cuts off the AC.
Its covered under extended warranty, so do not let the TASS charge you. Concorde will charge you unless you take out your extended warranty booklet and show them thats it covered

thanks tsk1979 for pointing out the problem to me. i will surely get it fixed in my next service due, but i dont have any extended warranty. But i have got this booklet during my last service for some 600rs i dont remeber the exact figure, which has lots and lots of discounts on various aspects of car maintainence and service. This booklet is offically a TATA promotion which they were doing some 4 - 5 months back i believe when i got my last service done.

Could it be the air-con cutoff on full throttle mode?

No such thing at 100-110kmph. ECU cutoff happens when you accelerate, not at constant speeds.

Would an Indica not require full throttle at 110 kph ?

In the turbo you can cruise @ 100ish speeds at ~ 2000 rpm, and just a little throtte. While accelerating, its an entirely different story

Check AC circuit gas pressures.

If the AC was getting cut off at constant speeds but high compressor rpm then it points to high pressure in the AC refrigerant circuit. Check the pressures out at engine off when cold and then again when the car is real hot.

Even more actually... I have touched over 160 (GPS indicated 154) kmph on the Turbo with a little more pedal travel still left. Only change was a K&N filter in the car. With the stock tyres the Turbo starts shaking violently just above 160 (speedo indicated). I am yet to test with the Yoko ES100s that the car now has.

I have done an indicated 158-60 on the Bombay Pune expressway with 4 passengers and with the XM1s the car is butter smooth.

@zappo, the vibrations have more to do with incorrect tyre pressure than the tryes themselves. Why don't you try again with 6psi over stock?

On topic, it's probably the thermostat, please get that checked. In an Indica, AC cutoff also occurs when the ECU senses that the engine is overheating.
