2010 Fiat Linea petrol emotion + Engine Problem

Hi guys , i ve picked up a fiat linea 2010 petrol on the 1st of feb. After driving the car for a day or two I noticed that between 1800 to 2200 rpm the engine practically stalls and gathers speed in a very jerky motion as if the hand brake has been pulled and there is too much of a load ..Once i am close to 2500 rpm , it runs smoothly. This happens mostly in 3rd and 4th gear. If however i change my gears at a higher rpm , the engine is not jerky but gathers speed very slowly. What could be the problem?The cars done only 250 kms till now.

Disconnect the battery terminal, connect after 15 minutes, it will reset the ECU. See if the jerk goes away.

By the topic of post it appeared to be a big problem but seems to be a case of just adulterated petrol .

Dont lable it " Engine Problem " , it could just be bad fuel quality. Take it to the A.s.s on asap basis.

@ dadu and trust : i doubt if its unadultrated petrol because we get our cars filled from a company owned and run petrol pump. Its one of the better ones in my town. But even then i ll get the next refill from a different station and see.
@ 1100D: I think i ll do what is suggested by you and see if it makes nay diference. But can a new car like this have an ECU issue?
@ karizma: i showed it to a fiat technician and the smarty says there is a slight jerk in every new car which should go as the kms are clocked. i was not to convinced though.

Why dont you take it to a service center? Since the car has done only 250 kms, the engine hasnt opened fully yet.

While adulerated fuel can genuinely be a suspect here, but why the reaction is so defensive towards the thread title;-}

@bigron, it might also be some engine tuning issue..I faced similar problem in my Ikon 3 months back, when suddenly one morning, after I refueled, added this System G additive to the tank next morning, it started behaving exactly as you mentioned. Post taking to service center, the technician just did some tuning to the engine (by rotating some knobs on the engine..not sure what the part is called)...it was fine. Though my IKon was 6+ yrs old at that time. First I suspected adulterated fuel but once I saw what the technician did, my suspicion turned towards the people who came to inspect my car (I was at that time selling this Ikon and going for new vehicle)..and did something to engine to inspect the noise/sound etc..

Hmmm the FIRE engine has always had a problem <2200-2500 rpm.

However, the jerking is worrysome. Should most probably be adulterated fuel or a slight tuning error.

Check for acceleration from 3000 rpm onwards. Don't over-rev though, the engine still isn't broken in.

6.6 kmpl. was it with AC and in traffic condition. Or you are a hard footed one.

Just change the filling station next time.

One more thing, lugging affects the FIRE engine much worse than it affects other engines. On the count of mileage, I mean.
